He's retiring? Why didn't i get the memo? What a great coach he has been. Anybody know why he's retiring?

The administration hasn't been thrilled with him pulling both duties -- particularly when the team has suffered some disappointing seasons after having higher expectations over the last three or four years. They somewhat "forced" him to decide by offering him a bunch of money to remain AD.

I wouldn't say last year was disappointing. Nobody expected them to do shit and they came out and one their first 9 games.

I agree though that he couldn't do as good of a job at either job as he could because he was trying to do both. It's simply too much for one person. I personally think he would have gone one more year, but wanted to name Bilema his successor before another university could hire him to be their head coach. That's just my opinion though, I don't have any solid information to support that.

...and what a game last night. I was at the game and Camp Randall was rocking. Down with Blue.

That bleachers bounce so much during this that, even if you didn't want to jump around, you would. It's insane.

I was a student there the first time they did the "Jump Around" at the end of the 3rd Quarter. It was the night game against Purdue in 1998. Camp Randall was rocking that night too.
