I am going to be in Manhattan exactly a month from now, and I am wondering if you can let me know about some good stuff to check out. Of course you have the art galleries and times square and all that. But, I'm talking about stuff like the Dakota Building or good nightlife spots.

If you head by the streets just above/below Times Square, I believe you'll be able to spot a lot of street artists if that's your kinda thing. I love watching the guys make music, or paint a picture, right on the street. Good stuff. You probably have to be out kinda late-ish to see that though.
Concerts you might wanna check out:
10/24: Soulfly, Incite, Throwdown @ Irving Plaza (dunno if that's your thing) 10/24: Cream @ MSG (sold out, but you could scalp tickets) 10/24: Adult., Genders @ Mercury Lounge (one of my favorite electro-acts.. but it's 18+ so I can't go)
10/25: Saves The Day, Say Anything, Senses Fail, The Early November @ Irving Plaza (read comment for Soulfly)
10/26: OK Go @ Irving Plaza (read comment for Soulfly) (read comment for Soulfly) 10/26: Soul Asylum @ Bowery Ballroom 10/26: Zakk Wylde Black Label Society @ Nokia Theatre (Times Square)
10/27: Ambulance LTD. @ Bowery Ballroom (they put on a pretty good show) 10/27: Avenged Sevenfold, Death By Stereo, Opiate For The Masses, Saosin @ Webster Hall (read comment for Soulfly)
10/28: Black Dice @ Irving Plaza (I've heard good things)
10/29: Dresden Dolls @ Webster Hall (Not my type of music, but they played an interesting show when they opened for NIN)

Is Beaumont still hanging around down there?
from what i hear, beaumont told rita where to go. rita gave up a little fight, but pretty much cut her losses and left. that's just here-say, though. i don't know when i'll be home.

It's in bayshore, not much of a bar but it's my football home on Sundays. I have a reserved seat and get my beers a minute after i ask for them. Plus they let me smoke in the bar.

times square is gay and expensive.
take a ride on the staten island ferry...
go down to chelsea piers...
take a walk through central park...
as for nightlife - if you like clubs, marquee and suede are two of the better ones open right now (though they both have like insane covers on good nights so theyre best on like a tuesday)
there are bars everywhere. for good value i'd say brother jimmy's bbq on the upper west side i think 81st and amsterdam - dollar margaritas 4 - 7 weeknights and awesome ribs and wings and shit. then theres cosmo at 51st and 8th (i THINK, i dont remember) which has all six dollar martinis and cosmopolitans that are gooood.

Audioslave and Seether are gonna be playing MSG on the 29th. Just another one I thought I'd point out. I don't get to hang much in the city, ebing from the Island and all, so that's about all I can add.
