All right, I'm going to give you a link to an Excel file which clearly covers everything that I own at this point. Give me the good, bad, and the ugly. You can say whatever you want about collection. I don't care. But I'd like to see what some folks think of my attempt at eclecticism.
So here's my link. Laugh, blast, love, or whatever. I'd like to see other folks and have the same opportunity too though.

From just a basic skimming, it looks pretty good and you have far less to be ashamed of than what I own. I suggest more Ben Harper and Billy Joel if you enjoy the albums you currently have.
My question to you, is The Killers special edition actually worth it? I haven't been able to justify buying it.

you need to buy the white album, bowie's hunky dory, fugazi's 13 songs, led zep I, II & III, nirvana unplugged in ny (even if you need to get rid of half of your existing nirvana records to get it), neil young's harvest, more wilco, more velvet underground, more bob dylan (although props for having his two best albums already. get bringing it all back home next)
throw away all that coldplay, phil collins, dixie chicks, eminem, billy idol, michael jackson, jet, billy joel, the killers, avril, maroon 5, staind, sugar ray, the vines, robbie williams, and i'm sorry, all the christian rock albums. you appear to really like dave matthews... i'm also sorry about that.

I like the special edition. I mean, it's three more songs and the artwork is just black on the cover, but "Indie Rock 'N Roll" seals the deal for me. I'm kind of glad to have both editions.

I have Nirvana's Unplugged (it's in the live division.) Um, I have th White Album as well.
I'm always looking to expand, but I don't think I'm selling much, if anything back anymore. I love Dave Matthews Band for the musicians and good songwriters they are.

You know, I was thinking that I have probably a few too many "hit" compilations from the aforementioned. I guess I just want a survey of material from those whom I respect, but I probably wouldn't yet want a proper album. I love Born in the USA, as it's an entirely solid album, but I don't know what else I should get from Springsteen. I would almost say The Essential and Born covers it. And in some essence, I think I have all the Dylan I need, but maybe I'm mistaken. Neil Young is almost too prolific for me at this point, but maybe I'll get some of the better ones. I love what I have ("Decade," "Harvest Moon," and "Mirrorball.") All right, well, take care.

ahhh no devotion i personally have every album, except maybe a spot or two here and there, from all of those guys along with plenty of boots from each as well.
i understand your reasoning, cause i'm like that with the hendrix, beatles,CCR, and some other bands from that era... but meh, can't say i feel the same about bruce, bob, and neil i'm one of those guys that loves prolific artists with great diversity in their works, thats a part of the attraction i guess...
o ya, one thing i forgot
tea for the tillerman. absolutely essential cd. its just...cat stevens is amazing. he takes nearly 40 minutes and turns it into pure beauty, its like one enourmous painting, its wonderful.

Nice list Jared. You've got some solid stuff on there. Since you asked, one little observation would be that you're playing it pretty safe. Take some chances on some more obscure bands/artists. You'll be pleasantly surprised. You should sign up for the mixed tape project so you can get some exposure to some new music - not there's anything wrong with what you have
One more observation. The anal Excel user in me wants to fix your list up so it's easier to use. If you add a freeze pane and auto filters you'll be stylin'. PM me if you're interested and I'll hook it up for you.
