former soundgarden guitarist kim thayil was spotted by multiple patrons at the former off ramp just the other day watching alter bridge. i have no idea why he was there but he was there. perhaps he was learning how to play lead?

perhaps he was there for some target practice.

If you're thinking Kim Thayil can't play lead, you have absolutely not idea what you're talking about. He probably knows the singer. That isn't very far-fetched.

of course he can play lead! i thought it was obvious that i was kidding around. i was trying to get a reaction and it obviously worked! you are probably right in your reasoning for him being there, i was thinking the same thing. anyhow this thread reached its aim....
kim goes to loads of shows in seattle... i still don't know how he can keep living off Soundgarden money... and he's certainly not the type to take a day job... he must have banked every red cent from touring and album royalties...

but i can't imagine he's going to waste a night seeing a band he has no interest in let alone despises. if he was smart with his money he could live off that money for the rest of his life and perhaps teach guitar lessons on the side? myles is a buddy of cornell's so i'm guessing he knows kim as well. the ex mayfield four guys were there as well, so at least all of those guys are still mates. too bad they couldn't achieve the same level of success.

I'm not well-versed in SG, but if he got ANY songwriting credit (I bet he did), and since he recieved a significant amount from touring intake, it's feasibly that a real person (that means "not CC Deville") could live a long time off of the short numbers of millions he no doubt collected. And the albums continue to sell.

it depends how he lives his life. if he lives the high life then he would probably need to form another band or find a real job. if he lived within his means then he should be set for life.
my point was just that he got a lot of the EARLY songwriting credit, but didn't get the later stuff as Chris and Ben were the major songwriters for the more SUCCESSFUL albums. But I guess he still has a nice bundle...

I'm fairly sure that they split royalties equally.
