Alright, I've decided to start with the Ten era. There are plenty of soundboard recordings and we've already been given a lot of help from the GH comp.

I'm thinking this era will be a 4 disc set of 2 "shows". I decided I'm looking for more than one version of a number of songs, you'll see why later. Here is the unofficial list of complete originals and covers:

note:
gh=Solid version on Green Habit comp.
2=Interested in 2 versions of the song
a date in parenthesis=the only time that song was performed during the era.

The Ten era, 1990-1992: 35 total songs

Originals: 22
Alive (gh, 2)
Alone (gh)
Angel (gh)
Black (gh, 2)
Breath
Brother (gh)
Daughter
Deep (2)
Dirty Frank (gh)
Even Flow (2)
Footsteps (gh)
Garden
Girl (gh)
Jeremy (2)
Leash (gh)
Oceans (2)
Once (gh, 2)
Porch (2)
Release
State of Love and Trust (2)
Wash (2)
Why Go (2)

Covers: 13
Baba O’Riley
Driven to Tears (6-25-92)
Hunger Strike
I am a Patriot (11-1-92)
I’ve Got a Feeling (gh)
Masters of War (gh)
My Generation
Redemption Song (6-26-92)
Rockin’ in the Free World
Saying No/Suggestion (gh)
Sonic Reducer
Throw Your Arms Around Me
Window Paine (3-28-92)

Alright, before we begin discussion...does anyone have any suggestions for songs that should be included other than what is listed? No improvs or impartial cover suggestiosn yet, please.

Let me hear your feedback.

Ok i read your topic on what your doing, yet i still dont really understand what the end result is that your going for. WHats the difference between this and the GH comp?

Im sure its easy to understand, i just am not the brightest bulb of the bunch sometimes.

Ok...it's kind of not easy to explain, but I wil try.

The Green habit compilation offers the best (aruably) version of every Pearl Jam original and many of the covers they have done. The way the discs are set up, the majority of songs from a particular disc are from the same album. This was a cool way to set that up, but the problem is that it does not give you the feel for what a Pearl Jam show from that era would've been like. Also, the GH comp has only one version of every song.

My project is an attempt to expand that compilation into something more.
There will be a different set of discs for each era in Pearl Jam's career. I will use the Riot Act era to explain:

Ok...among the Riot Act era let us say there are a total of 135 different songs performed. Well, I will take the best version of every song performed during that era from that era's bootlegs and organize them into mock PJ shows. So let us say the Riot Act set turns out being 8 discs...that would be 4 Pealr Jam shows. So, the compilation is not limited to just Riot Act songs from the Riot Act era.

So you do this for every era...making sure every song they performed is accounted for.

I don't know...I think I explained it better in my original threads...haha.

ok so you are looking for the best versions of these songs performed in 1990-1992 only right

so now for the vs. era 93-94 are these songs going to be included again, but only with performances from 93-94 or will you only do songs premeired in that era.

if you are doing it the 1st way that is a great idea, but it sounds like a lot of work
good luck

You can't include every single song that has been played in an era, if you wan't to arrange them in "shows". For example I wouldn't inlcude Brother into the Ten era. As it was only played once (as much as I know), it isn't part of a typical show from 1991/92. For Rarities we already have the GH-Compilation. It won't be possible to arrange all the songs into two shows and still keep the feeling of a show.

I hope you understood, what I wanted to say...

I disagree. I really don't see the harm in putting infrequently played songs on the compilation. I shouldn't have worded saying that it supposed to give you a feel of what "a concert from that era would have been like"....more just a Pearl Jam concert, in general.

It will be possible, you just need to use more than version of some songs.

So the only difference will be that you will have the songs arranged in another order and you will have more versions of each song in the compilation.

But then I ask you, if it wouldn't be easier to do a b-side collection of the gh-compilation. That means put all the songs and versions of songs together that didn't make it to the gh-compilation, but are worth of listening. And everybody can allocate them as he prefers it...

But do it your way... I personally would get a concert from 1992 if I would like to have a version of Alive or Jeremy or whatever of that time...

ok guys. i thought this thread was started to actually start on the project... not to criticize mowbs idea. i thought that's what the other two threads were for.
i personally think it sounds like a great approach. it'll show the progression the band has made over the years. GH's comp was taken from all different eras (e.g. evenflow was i think from one of the '03 shows, not 92) so why is everyone debating the process instead of helping out?

Could someone help me out, I have a question about the list I posted for this era. Is Window Paine from 3-28-92 primarily Ed or Billy Corgan singing? Or is it a duet?

Sico pata, your post is very interesting, I remember seeing it before. I'll post my opinions in bold and see what others thinks:

001 - Release [Tivoli, Utrecht 3-04-1992] Sounds good to me. Any disagreements?
002 - Why Go [PinkPop Festival 6-18-1992] I could go with this one. I'm looking for one more good version of this song.
003 - Deep [Newcastle 2-22-1992] Same deal as Why Go. Does anyone think there are two better versions?
004 - Even Flow [Den Haag 3-2-1992] Same deal as Why Go and Deep
005 - Alone (Den Haag 3-2-1992) Definitely using this version. i need one more
006 - (Just A) Girl (Seattle 10-22-1990) obviously
007 - Brother (Los Angeles 2-7-1991) obviously
008 - Wash (Amsterdam 2-12-1992) Definitiely want to use these two version of Wash
008b- Wash (fast) [NY 12-31-1992]
009 - Garden [Milan 6-17-1992] Only looking for one version. I've never heard this...anyone think it should be a diferrent one?
010 - Black (Zurich 6-18-1992) Definitely. And I'm strongly considering using the MTV Unplugged version also
011 - Alive (Zurich 6-18-1992) Yup. One more version
012 - Once [Indio 11-05-1993] Can't use this on the Ten era set. it'll have to be used on the Vs. era set since it was played in 1993
013 - Breath [New York 7-17-1991] More than one have suggested this version, though I've never hjeard it. Do we have another suggestion?
014 - Porch [Newcastle 2-22-1992] Need one more version
015 - Oceans [Zurich 6-18-1992] I'm particular to the MTV Unplugged version of this song. I wnated to use two versions of this...what do you guys think?
016 - State Of Love And Trust [Finsbury Park 6-6-1992] Never heard. Need two versions
017 - Leash [Tivoli, Utrecht 3-04-1992] I disgaree with this. I liek the Zurich one...any other opinions?
018 - Jeremy [MTV VMA 9-09-1992] I'll use this one...need another one
019 - Footsteps (Zurich 6-18-1992) Agreed
020 - Dirty Frank [New York 12-31-1992] Agreed

So what do you say, people?

012 - (Once in your live)/Once [Milan 6-17-1992] Maybe this one, with improv in the intro (there's some others, but this one it's better than Zurich for example)

About Oceans, my choice had justification
015 - Oceans [Zurich 6-18-1992] think this one had a particular sound with Eddie voice before the second verse

About Unplugged I'd prefer don't to use one song, because them you need to use every song. It must be entire concert

Well man im not putting you down in anyway. I just donyt think there isa drive for something of this nature. Most people here are satisfied with the GH comp.

It is a good idea in itself, just seems a bit redundant is all.

Like i said im not trying to offend you im just trying to explain
