Dude it seriously is.
Sorry about JD Drew, but that team had a lot of albatrosses to deal with.

brought on soley by the cheap owner and moneyball loving GM.

Mccourts bank account and Depodesta's harvard brain have turned the Dodgers into a perrenial loser for years to come.

cant wait to see what moneyball yes man Depo hires to manage his collection of scrubs. Art Howe? Terry Collins? fantastic!

check out Gagne's qoutes from today's paper:

http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/sp ... 701610.php

But Gagne is passionate in his belief that good health won't be enough to get the Dodgers where he thinks they should be.

"Is it going to help? Absolutely," he said. "But we need a lot. We're in L.A. It's an embarrassment to the city. It's an embarrassment to the fans. It's an embarrassment to everyone who came before us and wore the Dodger uniform to have a year like this.

"I know what the Dodgers represent, and this not what it represents at all."

Asked if he thought ownership and management were leading the franchise in the right direction, Gagne said, "I have no idea. I wish I were confident, but I have no idea."

Gagne, signed through 2006 with an option for 2007 that he or the team can buy his way out of, said he has no interest in being part of a rebuilding project.

"We're the (expletive) Dodgers," Gagne said. "We should be like the Yankees. The Yankees don't rebuild. They go out and get what they need to win. We have the resources to be like that; 3.6 million fans came out this year. We get, what, $40million from TV revenue without doing a thing.

"I don't want to be here if we're just going to play kids and rebuild. Yeah, I put my name on a contract, and I respect that. But the Dodgers' logo was on top of that contract - not the Milwaukee Brewers or the (Triple-A) Las Vegas 51s."

heres a question for you, since you are hell bent on defending it everytime someone brings it up:

when was the last time a team who played the "moneyball" way won a playoff series? Oakland, toronto, LA...

the answer is NEVER.

Depodesta used the moneyball philosophy to take a team that won their division and had unbelievable chemistry and turned it into a joke, 25 cabs for 25 guys, but at least some of those guys have a high career OPS, right?

further proof baseball is played by ballplayers, not harvard nerds with fancy computers.

sigh, since you refused to answer two simple questions, then asked a question of me and immediately answered it incorrectly, i don't know why i'm about to respond, but here goes:

the red sox won the world series last year.

but you're right. paul depodesta doesn't actually play baseball for a living. nice observation.

Bostons payroll was 2nd highest in baseball...hardly hard core moneyball tactics at work.

boston didnt dump team leaders and ruin team chemistry in favor of on base stats and a cronically injured OF who gets a lot of walks...

Depo has managed to ignore the good aspects of moneyball and use all the shitty stuff. his manager saw it and bolted, his only star player sees it and is pretty pissed, and the fans see it, but stupidly show up for games anyway

they're about to dump johnny damon. they "dumped" derek lowe. they keep manny ramirez. they dumped pedro martinez. they traded nomar garciaparra.

their payroll has dropped since theo took over. either way, a high payroll isn't anathema to the moneyball philosophy. you'd know this if you read the book.
