I'm sure there have been threads before about what Pearl Jam's best album is. I wanted to make a thread that specifically focuses on lyrical content of each album and see what people thought of that.
Not sure what I think. Wnated to see what others think.
Now this is no knock on Ed at all, but when the whole band started writing songs for the album, the lyrical content just became amazing. Stone and Jeff have written some great songs. With that said, I have to give a tie between Yield and No Code.

"lyrically" i think they keep getting better.
riot act is the best with binaural second. doesnt mean i think they are the 2 best albums overall, but lyrically those 2 are the best.

Vitalogy is their best. There is some great writing on Yield, but I wouldn't give it to the album as a whole cuz of the songs Eddie didn't write. I can't think of any songs the other guys have written with good lyics. At best they are average.

Vitalogy... didn't even have to think twice about that one. Stone's lyrics are typically pretty bad, as are Matt's, and Jeff's are pretty good but not great, so I have to go with an album that only features Eddie's lyrics.

Every song on Ten has great lyrics. Vs. is fairly hit or miss, but the standouts (Elderly Woman, RVM, Indifference) rank amongst the best writing Eddie's ever done

^Definitely. Vs. had plenty of good lyrical performance, and Ten had Black which is IMO his best lyrical performance. Behind Black is Immortality, Off He Goes, Betterman, and In My Tree, so I think that Vitalogy and No Code are his two best.
