Any Virginians (or non) out there care to discuss?
Less than 2 months to go, and things are heating up. Jerry Kilgore (republican) and Tim Kaine (democrat) debated today in what was at least to me, clearly a lopsided victory for Tim Kaine. Im from the same small hometown as Jerry Kilgore and I have grown to know him and his family as nothing but liars, cheats, and scumbags. His own mother has taken part in rigging local elections, Kilgore and his twin brother have pulled strings to get violent criminals out of jail time, and the main financial contributor for Kilgore's campaign is a pharmaceutical company that produces many of the products found in meth. (the reason why Kilgore won't support governor Mark Warner's new restrictions on otc cold medications. he dosent want to financial hurt his main contributor)
Lt. Governor Tim Kaine is a democrat who wants to carry on the legacy that Mark Warner created. Kilgore is an extreme conservative who wants to undo all the good that has occured the last four years, and send our state back into the dark ages associated with the Gilmore administration.

Did anybody watch the debate between Kilgore and Kaine this evening? It was on CSPAN and local channels across the state. Personally I thought Kaine won, but Ive been a supporter of the Lt. Governor and his beliefs from day one. Does anyone out there in VA who is not as left-leaning as myself have an opinion on how the debate went? One thing was obvious for sure, that is Kaine is a much better public speaker.

They are both douches, but I'm still probably going to vote for Kaine because he is a democrat. I liked how Sabato was getting annoyed with the candidates last night.

Well it all boils down to tomorrow, and the good news for Tim Kaine is that he has the momentum. Most polls show Kaine with a slight advantage, but that could be neglected because the GOP always comes out strong for Election Day in Virginia.
It also appears Kilgore is pulling out all stops. Yesterday at churches all across the state, members of the Kilgore camp as well as out of state conservative groups were handing out pamplets filled with misleading, negative-Kaine information. Robo-calls to northern Virginians by the Kilgore campaign pretending to be from Tim Kaine have been aimed at discouraging people from making it to the polls. The list of dirty tricks pulled by Kilgore and conservative groups in this race goes on and on and on.......
The importance of this election cannot be stressed enough! With Roe vs. Wade most likely being overturned, the decisions will go back to the states, and Jerry Kilgore will most definitely make abortion a crime in VA, while Tim Kaine will uphold current abortion laws and not criminalize women and doctors!
So, if you are a Virginian, and want Virginia to keep moving forward such as it has with Mark Warner as Governor, then MAKE SURE YOU VOTE FOR TIM KAINE TOMORROW!!!

I was listening to NPR this morning. Apparently, because two Democratic governors won, the entire Republican party will be ousted from power in the next two elections.

well I heard that there is going to be a revolution and all republican will be asked to leav the country. On a good note, they have lots of vacancies in Iraq

Actually, I'm not anti-GOP, I'm for balance. I suppose it's the Libra in me, but if we have a Republican president, I want a Democratic House and Senate, & vise versa. Right now the republicans have the House, Senate, Supreme Court, and the Executive office. IMO that's too much power for one party.
Two of the most popular presidents in recent history had this -- Bill Clinton had to deal w/ a Republican Congress; and Regan had to deal w/ a Democratic Congress. Oddly enought things seem to get done like this; when one party can check the other. It forces the nuts on the extreme to come to middle ground, which is good for us common folk.
