First the Artest thing, and now a Clemson-SC fight the day after? What the hell is going on? If there's a fight at tonights Florida-FSU game (which I'd say theres a 70% chance of) sports needs to admit to a major problem... the Steelers-Browns pregame brawl? The Spain-England soccer match yellings? Yeah, all part of this...

It's like it's all coming to a head right now...
I hear you on this. I work in the sports world, and I find it very embarrassing as well.

fights are going to happen in sports no matter what...it's a high energy, intense atmosphere, and everyone is hyped up with adrenaline, testosterone, etc...however, the magnitude of the fight where peole in the crowd are getting hurt or officials....that is when it becomes a really serious problem

Fights in sports are inevitable... I know this... they happen all the time... but we've had a fight that some are calling the biggest in the history of the NBA (if you weren't pissed when you saw Detroit fans dumping shit on Jermaine O'Neal and Rick Carlisle when they were leaving out the ramp, check yourself), a Lou Holtz coached team get into a MASSIVE brawl that the police couldn't contain in his LAST game coaching ever, an entire stadium of racist chants and two brawls in the NFL in the same week.... something is not right here...
And let's not forget the riot police at the Yankees-Sox game in October.... fans are more hostile than ever right now, and I couldn't tell you why...

fights happen in sports all the time. sometimes the crowd gets invloved. this is pussy shit compared to some of the stuff that goes on during/after/before soccer games
I know Artest is a shmuck, but he can't be hitting fans. He needs to be expelled for the rest of the season at least. I am very dissapointed in Jermaine O'Neal, I thought better of him...not anymore.
They all need to be kicked out of the league for at least the season. I know that the fans were being dicks but as professionals they can't retaliate.
Artest is a loser anyway, I could care less. The league is better w/o him

Yep. No one died in any of the fights over here, unlike a few soccer brawls/stampedes that have happened.

i love that this picture is autographed. awesome
now thats embarassing. getting worked over by a 40 year in a fight
i still remember watching this game when it happened, and im not so sure that ventura really would have gotten his ass kicked by a 40 year old if it wasnt nolan, anyone who has seen this game or even just the footage of the fight should remember that ventura gets hit by the pitch and then comes flying at the pitchers mound, then he slows down and get this look on his face of like" oh no, i cant fight nolan ryan" then nolan takes advantage of the hesitation and puts ventura in a headlock and proceedes to give ventura one of the funniest ass beatings in sports history. i think if it wasnt nolan on the mound then robin would have done just fine in the fight
and by the way, i wish i had that pic autographed , classic

If I were Jermaine Oneal I wouldve done the same thing, fans cannot run on the court or field, like i said in another thread, monica seles was stabbed by a fan running on the court, if you run on the court your fair game. artest is definately off the wall and Im not excusing him for going into the stands, but the guy who threw the beer is every bit as responsible, and if artest faces legal recourse for this, the fan should as well. everybody is looking down on the players, and rightfully so, but it was the fans who started the whole incident, and those fans dont get a free pass.
and by the way, artest, jackson, and ben wallace were suspended indefinately, and maybe oneil too, but i dont remember seeing his name scrolling on the bottom of the screen.

Artest got 30, O'Neil got 20, Wallace got 5. I thought it could have been higher, but it's pretty severe either way.
I'm a hockey fan, so I've seen a lot of pretty bad stuff, but I've never seen anything like this.

Well said Phil!
