just saw the press conference - talk about arrogant assfucks. even if they weren't to come out and admit they were wrong at least understand why people are questioning the call. fucking power hungry assholes.

thank you...you are the only person speaking sense...
i agreed at first i was like...what's going on...but when they showed the blow up close up version...the ball clearly bounced...how else can you explain the fact that the ball was going down, into the dirt...and landed up near the middle of paul's glove.
at least i'm not the ONLY one to notice it

I saw that too. It was still handled AWFULLY by the umpiring crew.

true, it was handled badly by the umpire crew...
but not as badly as it was handled by the angels

OK I may be off here...but wouldn't a left-handed batter be considered out if he steps across to the other side of home plate anyways? I mean...what the hell is he doing over there?

For the first time I agree with Bammer. (What he said.)

According to the rules on a play where the catcher does not catch strike 3 the hitter is not out until he is thrown out at first or the player reaches the dugout steps. He could be halfway to the dugout when he realizes the ball got by the catcher, run to first and he would be safe.
Odd rule but thats how it is, why wouldn't he be considered out of the base path? you got me.

More like dumbass catcher. Yeah it was a close call, and to me it looked as if the ball did not hit the ground, but if the catcher doesn't hear the ump call the batter out he should at least be sure to tag him anyway. If he had played it safe they might not have lost tonight.

There is no way that Paul rolls the ball back to the mound unless he wasnt sure he caught it.
As for the umpires hand motions. I believe then when he raised his hand it was to motion that it was a strike, then when he pumped his arm that signified that the batter was out.
Finally, i think that when they showed the zoomed in angle, it was misleading. I think that the slow motion they were losing made it look like it bounced, but it was just changing frames. Thats just what it looked like to me.

Me too. I thought Paul caught the ball as well and the umpire pumped his fist indicating Pier was out. I dont blame him for attempting to run down to first, but how the umpires could make a controversial call (to say the least) like that in the ALCS is beyond me. Maybe in spring training or games before the allstar break or something, but give me a break. If I was a player on the Angels I would feel fucking robbed.
