I just downloaded the new version of iTunes and checked out the new videos that are available on the iTunes Music Store for $1.99 a pop. To my surprise, there were 2 Pearl Jam videos, Oceans and Do the Evolution. I wish Jeremy was up there, but I guess that won't happen anytime soon.

I am not sure how great a deal $1.99 per video is, (let the debate begin), but this may be a precursor to having full concert videos available for purchase. I hope Pearl Jam will put more videos up given that they film most every concert. It would be great if they put up the best versions of songs from the tour! If they do, I may just have to buy the video iPod!

Videos are only $1.99. Once I get a bigger hard drive, I'll start buying a bunch of these videos... I love to have my own personal MTV, one that actually plays videos. I'll also have to rip the music videos off of any dvd's that I own and import them into iTunes.

thoses videos both came free with touring band 2000.

i'm not sure of the video quality, but they're for the new video ipod that's coming out in a few weeks, $1.99 for music videos and tv show episodes... hope tht helps

this ipod video thingy is gonna cause a great deal of confusion....hope the RIAA doesn't start pounding people who've downloaded such videos in the past....

My responses to the following:

"Are you someone from the band management?" - No. I wish! How fun would that be!

"Or maybe the RIAA?" - Hell no! F-them! I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan, and just a grunt working at a Pharmaceutical company 8am-5pm every day.

"Or an Apple Computer guy?" - Big fan of Apple computers and iPods. Use them at home and swear by them.

"Just curious...sorry for being suspicious" - No problem! I realize that the quality of these iTunes videos are not great when blown up onto a TV. And the fact that a single video costs two bucks, but if viewed on the computer or the new iPods, it isn't too bad.

My reason for the posting was twofold:

1., I was surprised that those two videos are up there. I assumed Pearl Jam management would not allow it.

2., If every PJ concert is filmed, now there is a somewhat easy way for them to distribute the videos, with high quality sound, without the hastle in having to make and distribute DVDs. We have all seen some of the videos from this tour taken by cell phones... Imagine if the quality of the picture and the sound was as good as the videos that are on the iTMS now. And if we could pick whichever song from any concert we wanted. You could build a video archive of the best songs from a tour and watch and hear them on an iPod instead of just hearing them. Sounds cool to me.

I'm no visionary, but a few years ago, people on this very forum told me that downloading Pearl Jam concert bootlegs via Ten Club or iTunes would never be accepted as a replacement for the Ten Club CDs. Looks like we are doing that now... I hope videos will come soon too!

Not to rain on your parade...but many of us STILL feel that this is an unnacceptable substitute for the pressed CD's even if they are slightly cheaper.

Still i've been reading a lot about this Apple video concept today and its actually a pretty good idea. $1.99 for a music video clip is a total rip-off...but the same price for an hour long episode of Lost is a great price...especially if it's commercial free (i haven't heard word on this yet).

You can download them for free from any number of file sharing networks.

The big issue with this idea (along with the digital bootlegs, which has already been mentioned) is quality. Nothing can or will compete with the quality of a professional DVD or pressed CD. I think there are too many compromising those quality standards at this point, and I'm not sure if we're headed in a good direction.

Well I think Eddie Vedder is in love with apple. the ipods especially, in that sk interview he did, he called the ipod the best invention ever or something along those lines.

thats an opinion that i wish he didn't have, but oh well.

I wonder why will people want to watch "Sex and the City" or "Bill Maher" or a "Simpsons" episode on a 2 inch i-pod screen...unless one can use the ipod as a storage device and connect it to a television set....but then a Comcast or a Time Warner can rather put all those episodes on "On-Demand" and I'm sure people won't mind paying them 2 bucks rather than paying Apple for an inferior quality video...

I'm still thinking how can video be the future of a portable device...unless the ipod opens four fold into a bigger screen or something....

I'm anyway planning on buying that video ipod, not for the video sake though...coz that's the only one available and it's slightly thinner than the older one which is still available on amazon.com and I need those extra GBs

You forget one important factor regarding todays consumers. They're idiots. They buy into the latest fads without regard for audio or video fidelity. It's just the next cool thing to spend your paycheck on. These are the same people that probably already own a cell phone that takes pictures, plays mp3's, videos clips and video games and comes with the cutest ringtones.

you can buy espisodes of lost and desparate house wives for 1.99...I know a few people who have already purchased them. all of the other networks are pissed at abc.
