University of Pennsylvania's radio station (88.5, WXPN) asked their listeners to vote on their 10 favorite albums in an effort to rank the 885 greatest albums of all time. Throughout the countdown, they played 2 or 3 songs from each album and they played the top 25 albums in their entirety. Four PJ albums made the cut. Here is where they ranked with the songs the station played in parenthesis:

771 - No Code (Smile, In my Tree)
668 - Yield (Faithfull, No Way)
377 - Vs. (Daughter, Glorified G, Small Town)
34 - Ten (Black, Even Flow, Jeremy)

The absence of Vitalogy is a bit odd, but I only voted for Ten. Anyone in the Philadelphia area who is unfamiliar with this station should really consider giving it a listen because it is hands down the best in the region. Anyone who gives a crap, here was my top 10 list that I submitted, though I forget how I ranked them exactly:

Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers (Unranked)
The Who - By Numbers (598)
U2 - War (129)
Beck - Odelay (118)
Jethro Tull - Agualung (100)
Led Zeppelin 1 (63)
David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust (24)
Radiohead - OK COmputer (15)
Beatles - Revolver (9)
The Clash - London Calling (8.)

Check out the complete list: http://xpn.org/885ATGA.php

its a pretty interesting list. there's some obvious albums that you know are gonna be on there, like every beatles album, but it was a fun read. thanks

88.5 is a great station. dont agree with the albums and order though. replace ten and vs. with binaural and riot act and move up yield and no code.

You like binaural and riot act more than vitalogy?

Are we listening to the same band?

I cant believe Vitalogy wasnt on there. That, to me, is THE quintessential PJ record and the best representative of a non-Nirvana grunge record. It is not my personal favorite or anything, but to me what that record represents is the best of that entire era for mood, tone and musicianship.

Riot Act doesn't blow anyone's ass. It's a good album--just not as good as much of thier other stuff.
