yesterday I went to walmart to buy batman begins, and all they had were full screen dvds, hundreds of them and no widescreen versions, finally I just got the 2 disc version because that only come in widescreen. It seems like before the widescreen tv's got popular all you could find were widescreen dvds, no it's hard to find them, that doesn't make any sense.

It is a Wal Mart thing. Go anywhere else, and the widescreen is much more abundant. I could attempt to explain why it is that way, but just look at your average fella Walmart shopper, and it makes a lot of sense. These are the same people who kept Home Improvement and Touched by an Angel on the air for so long. I would venture to guess that "The Fast and the Furious" sold more fullscreen copies while Goodfellas sold more widscreen copies. You can assume whatever you want from that.

I agree somewhat with the statement "look who shops at walmart" I try not to go there but it was after work and I didn't want to go to bestbuy. Also Target has a lot of fullscreen dvds to. I bought scarface from target thinking it only came in widescreen(as no movie should ever come in fullscreen) but I was wrong I started watching it and saw it was fullscreen. I was pissed and everywhere I look I can't find a widescreen version of scarface, even bestbuy

Sometimes you have to dig through all the fullscreen discs to find a widescreen. When I worked at Blockbuster, we always had a few people complain about widescreen dvds. It really boils down to people being idiots.

Bingo! People either don't like the "big black bars" gumming up their screen, or they are too stupid to notice the difference. What some people fail to realize is that movies are shot in WIDESCREEN, and shown in the theatre in WIDESCREEN. When you see the movie in this format, it was as the director intended it to be seen. Everything is framed properly and you get the full artistic effect of the movie. Converting a movie to fullscreen involves chopping off big chunks of each side of the frame, resulting in a compromised version of the movie.

don't a lot of dvd players have the option of adjusting the screen to different sizes?
It's possible, certain DVD's allow you to change the ratio, but unless both the widescreen and fullscreen version are on the same disc, all you are getting is a distorted version of what's already on there...it won't add or subtract material.
As cartoony and patronizing as this is, it sums it up perfectly and should be posted on every wall of every Blockbuster.

It's because all the widescreens sold out, and fullscreen is all they had left.

mine's 53". i brag, because i never have anything to say when people start talking about their cocks.
anyway, full screens are popular because 19 to 27" t.v.'s are popular. when you have a big ass t.v., you don't mind the black bars. when you have a 19 inch t.v., you fucking need every inch you can get. maybe if i had a smaller t.v. i could afford a couch with fewer urine stains.

Because he got more votes than his opponent(s).
... on the second try.
Don't DVDs usually have both versions?
