obviously a great move for the O's. Of course, Angelos will probably fire him and Perlozzo sometime during the 07 season...

Sucks for Atlanta, Leo is a great guy, but severely underpaid.

He's got a ton of work to do with that bunch of losers but hey, he's no stranger to that.

He's easily the best in the business. We'll miss him for sure.

I think he chose there because he is good friends with Perlozzo.

Time out, Leo is on Dimino's show currently in Atlanta and the AP is full of shit. As of this time Leo says he has signed nothing. It may still go down, but he hasn't signed yet.

If Mazzone left because Atlanta wasn't going to pay him big bucks, then the Braves are out of their freaking minds.

This makes no sense to me.

I heard thay he once said that if Perlozzo ever became a manager he would be his pitching coach.
So, if this is true, then i think that it is all Mazzone's doing.

apparently, Leo was Perlozzo's best man at his wedding, and they live on the same street in MD. So I guess it won't be much of a shock if he goes to Baltimore.

If Mazzone can do anything at all with that pitching staff in Baltimore (which I'm pretty sure he can) Baltimore already has a great lineup so they could put some serious heat on whoever is on top of the AL East.

Too bad for Atlanta though. They could have used Mazzone for guys like Horacio Ramirez and Kyle Davies...

He came here because he grew up as childhood friend of Sam Perlozzo in Cumberland Md. Agreed to 3 yr contract.

I wonder if this didn;t get Sammy hired as manager. Maybe he told PA 'Hey you hire me, I'll getcha Leo." Its well known that PA wanted to hire Sam Perlozzo as manager the first time, but was convinced by Flannagan and Beattie to hire Lee Mazzilli, who wasn;t allowed to to bring any of his own coaches in- and poof!

It should very much benfit guys like Bedard, and Cabrera who are right there ablity wise. Maybe he could even help the helpless Kline or Julio!

With what Mazzone has been able to do in Atlanta, he is borderline HOF material. Best man or not, Atlanta is insane to have let him talk to other teams while still under contract.

The streak ends next year.

I have never seen this much hype over a freaking pitching coach. The hardcore O's fan sites that I frequent are shooting their loads over this move.

If you look at the Braves pitching over his tenure, it's pretty unbelievable what kind of numbers they've put up. Pitchers that end up in Atlanta almost invariably end up having career years. They do play in a pitcher's park, but Mazzone deserves a ton of credit.

Regardless, he will be the first coach inducted into the Hall of Fame.

that is good for the NL, im tired of seeing that dude rocking back and forth all night in a braves uni...

and i say that out of respect of what he can do for a pitching staff.
