Do you think PJ would ever do a split LP with another band? and if so, which band would you most like to see?

Me, I'd enjoy a Ljå/PJ split, or a Leprechaun/PJ split.

Please cite some other "split albums"

I don't think I've ever heard of this concept before.

Basically each band gets half the album. It's often done by more underground artists so they can help the other band get exposure to their fans. I have a split EP from Shai Hulud and Indecision. Each band has three songs on it.

I believe, by definition, that is not an LP, but a "single."

I think an EP is more than a single, less than an album. Like Alice In Chains' Sap.

Rancid and NOFX did once recently.
They did 4 songs each, but they covered each others songs, which was totally cool.

Ben Gibbard of DCFC and Andrew Kenny did one a few years ago and it is damn good stuff.

But as was said by someone else. Split records are usually done by more underground acts, usually with the intent of using one bands popularity to increase anothers. If you look hard enough, pretty much every band out there who has ever been on an independant label has done a split record (single, EP, or LP)

I suppose I should have expected something like this by now.

Oh wait... I did expect it.

Mirrorball was the album Pearl Jam did with Neil Young

Merkinball was the 2 song album with "Long Road" and "I Got Shit"

REM and Pearl Jam should do a record where they cover each other's songs. Eddie would implode if he tried to do End of the world as we know it but he's done a nice job in the past on Begin the Begin, and the guys could have a lot of fun with Pop Song 89, Sweetness Follows, Country Feedback and a few others. I think REM would have more trouble with Pearl Jam but it'd be fun to hear them try. I think Michael Stipe could pull off I got Shit
