While browsing the official R.E.M. website for information on a recent concert, I located the following information from Michael Stipe's journal in the "backstage pass" section. I thought some fellow R.E.M. fans might enjoy it as well.

------------------------
Chapter 5
We headed to LA that night after a funny dinner with some of the record company people who I adore and david keeps the writer who ive dug for 18 years and eddie vedder.

Chapter 6
Eddie was in an ornery mood too and we locked horns and laughed a lot and had a great late time. He made me look palefaced with his suntan and jealous of surfers and wishing summer was longer. I love to hear him sing, he’s a raw diamond.
-----------------------------------

There's also a wonderful photo attached, which features e.v. with a serious tan and his trademark bottle of wine. You can find it here:

I think it took place last year.
I think it's neat that they are friends. Would've loved to be a fly on the wall of that place (or perhaps the fork Ed ate with....lol).

Agreed.

Still would like to be the fork, though.

whoa! That was a scary photo, must have been a shitty camera. The lighting is horrible. Thanks for posting though. I love to hear this stuff.
