i didn't see it, but the movie hype sparked me to buy this ol' video game. i remember having it back in the mid 90's, but i had it on floppy disk.

i got doom 1, doom 2, and final doom for like 15 bucks. but i've never heard of final doom, what is it? did it come before doom 3?

Yeah, it came out before Doom 3 and I think it is a mod from the Doom community, but I'm not sure.

Final Doom is a first-person shooter computer game that uses the game engine, items and characters from Doom II. It consists of two 32-level megawads (level files), The Plutonia Experiment by brothers Dario and Milo Casali, and TNT: Evilution by the Casali brothers and TeamTNT. Final Doom was released in 1996 and distributed as an official id Software product. In addition to the PC and Macintosh versions, Final Doom was also released for the PlayStation, that version packaged together with the Master Levels for Doom II.

Anyone else download all those Doom 2 patches? You could be Homer, and kill all the Simpsons characters. Damn that was fun

I have been a sucker for Doom since the beginning. Doom3 (for XBOX) had stunning animation...but I think the writers could have thought it out a little more. I'm not sure what the PC version is like, but I found on XBOX that there just didn't seem to be enough heath and those damn lockers and codes are a pain in the ass...seriously just let me kill things! As for the movie...seems just like the game but with real live actors. That's pretty lame :/ But I'm a geek so I'll watch it when it comes on dvd
