I dont know if I will be in the store Tuesday Nov. 16 to buy Rearviewmirror, but I will almost deffintley pick it up maybe just for the Brendan O'Brien remix of Black alone. I mean Im excited to hear what he did to Once and Alive to, but I think Black is what is the sell for me. I dont know if these songs will sound much different, or better, but its always nice to have something a little new and different. Cant wait...

Brendan O'Brien knows what he's doing. Memebers of the band have said how they would love to remix Ten. The production of Ten is my least favorite production for any Pearl Jam album. I much prefer the production of Yield or No Code, which O'Brien produced.
I can't wait to hear the new mixes of Black, Once, and Alive. Hell...they should have gone and remixed every song from Ten on the greatest hits album.

ok this is coming from a music technology major in my senior year... i have completed all my courses and my internship and now am just waiting on graduation this year... ten's quality isn't so bad as everyone wants to make it out to be... it definately has a raw quality to it, which to me is a good thing. but... man can someone please take off some of the reverb... i mean the vocals in some places are just drowned in reverb. verb is good but in moderation....
ya know, it sounds cool, but then i think you shouldnt mess with something so perfect already. it just doesnt seem right.
Yeah but why we be worried. Just cause theres a new remix of Black doesnt mean the old version will disapear. If you like the old one, cool, but as they say, the more the merrier. Thats one of the reasons I liked Lost Dogs so much, the remixes of old songs like Alone and Wash and even new songs like U and Undone just made it a good time. You can still listen to your favorite version, but you will always have that other version to.

Most people who comment on the production of Ten dont really know what production is. For a debut album it is an excellent diverse piece of work. Too much reverb makes it sound dated now but in the context of Cinderella and Ratt it sounded pretty raw in it's day. Hopefully Mr O'Brien will peal off a couple of layers of reverb and boost the low end a bit and it will sound great.

I'm not really worried, If it's better then great, if it's worse then I'll just pop Ten back in the CD player so in the end I guess it's just a matter of listening to which ever one you prefer.

I'm looking forward to it. I'm really digging the TEN rough mixes bootleg right now...the version of Black on that is great, not so much reverb and the ending goes on forever, without the fade out. That's the way I've always heard it in my head and sing it in the car..."do do do do do do do" ad infinitum.
