I thought I would move this from the Harriet Miers thread. Its the possible debate about candidates for 2008. Is another Bush something our country could tolerate?

Ask me again in 2009.
Why, is there a chance Bush may still be in office then?
I was figuring I wouldn't feel better until AT LEAST then. But now you've ruined that dream.
There's always Jeb.
God, if that wouldn't send some people over the cliff . . .
I've heard people say, "No ... the American public won't put a 3rd Bush in the White House because THAT would really smack of 'royal family.'"
But I've lost a lot of faith in the collective intelligence of the American public in the last five years.
If I was a betting man... I'd have more than just a few dollars on Jeb being at least nominated.
Because McCain will be a little too old and the GOP won't give it to that stem cell loving ape Frist.
Sean Hannity was talking to George Allen and Sean said "I want you to run in 2008, and Rudy would make VP."
George Allen then said, "Or Jeb." meaning he(Jeb) is on the short list.

Did he mean Jeb for president, or for VP? I thought I read a while back that Jeb wasn't interested in either.

Hillary is the only name that I've heard being thrown around consistently for 2008. Either I don't pay much attention to politics, or people truly don't have any strong candidates in place to run, huh?

That statement was made tongue in cheek. I agree that most presidents, at some point in their political careers prior to their presidency, have uttered these words.

Your grasp of national politics is staggering.
