During the half time of the Argos/Allouettes game (CFL) a fan kicked a field goal to win a million dollars.

I can't remember the details for prizes and that kind of stuff, but it went something like this:

20 yards for $1000 - misses wide right
30 yards for a stereo system - misses wide right
40 yards for a car or something like that - misses wide right
50 yards for a million dollars - nails it.

I've can't find the article right now. I'll post it when I find it.

Anyway, this was awesome to see. I think he's just a soccer player and he got to spend some time with the team the week before to help his kick. It was great because no one ever seems to win these types of things.

Still, that's $849,545.49 us - taxes more than I'll ever have for kicking a football fifity yards...

I think Canada has some sort of exceptions for winnings. (considering they take 15% sales- even on groceries)... Im not sure exactly what it is. I just know i see a lot of signs around Detroit for the Casino Windsor saying "winnings are canadian tax free" and stuff like that.

Yeah, Canadians don't pay taxes on lottery winnings, prizes, etc. Not sure exactly why. Maybe it's to encourage us to throw more money away gambling.
