From Bostondirtdogs.com (a Red Sox fan site) via Peter Gammons' ESPN column.

"Theo needs his space -- he might go to South Africa with Pearl Jam (appearing at a special benefit for Molo Care, an organization that Theo added to his charity foundation -- A Foundation to be Named Later) and do social work -- and the Red Sox will find someone who wants to accomplish what he accomplished." -- 11.1, Peter Gammons, ESPN.com Insider (subscription only)

There's no mention on the official site, but it might be a good idea to visit it anyway and make a donation...

Robbie Robb is an amazing musician from South Africa. He has been in some metal bands-not the genre of metal you like I don't think :/ But yeah, I love his music. Lately the stuff he has been into is completely opposite though.

I think the bigger point is that Pearl Jam is going to play a concert in South Africa. I wonder if we have any board members who live in Africa and can tape the concert? haha

so it really is South Africa

i thought Gammons was confused and meant Eddie invited Theo to South America with them. Gammons said the same thing during his interview on the Big Show on WEEI yesterday.

Yeah, the point is: what's this whole africa/concert trip all about? This hasn't been reported in any music-related article. I guess you could say Gammons accidently broke the story? Is there going to be an official announcement from the band now?

Actually, now that I think about it; Gammons could be REALLY confused, but he did write about Molo Care in his piece. interesting....

don't know about south africa, but early 90's, there were about 10 hardcore PJ fans in Kenya.. me being one of them. none of us live there anymore... but i am pretty sure there are some PJ fans there still. it's a constantly changing expatriate community.
