Anyone have some interesting races going on? Over here we have three city council seats up for election, and one of the candidates is a national director for Generation Life, an anti-abortion group. I'd link you to some photos of what they've done, but you could argue that some of them would be NSFW. (I bet some of you can figure out why.)

She was also arrested for standing in the way of the removal of a Ten Commandments monument in a park. She's only 28, rather good looking, and has no idea how to run a city. I can't wait to see her get absolutely destroyed in the polls.

Texas is voting among other things on a state constitutional ban on gay marriage. The KKK were in full force outside the Capitol the other day endorsing the Yes campaign. Well, they weren't wearing their bedsheets, so I shouldn't really say "full force".

If they passed one here in Oregon I can't imagine there's even an opposition in Texas.

Probably not, but the Oregon amendment was tied to the Presidential election if I remember correctly, meaning much higher voter turnout.

Stranger things have happened, Ara. ;)

If Oregon bans gay marriage and Texas doesn't, I'll wet myself.

There's been a fairly decent Vote No campaign (in hippie Austin at least), so I'm more interested in the actual percentage result. How much influence does such a campaign have, and are they just preaching to the choir on big issues?

If this turns out 95-5 %, I think I'll have my answer.

If Detroit re-elects Kwame Kilpatrick they should revoke residents' voting privileges.

Leaving right now to vote. Voting no on all props except the first one.

So, North Carolina has county school districts. The Town of Chapel Hill started their own school district b/c Orange County residents didn't want to pony up the money.

Now Orange County wants to merge back b/c their schools are underfunded. Chapel Hill said fuck you.

So, they got a ballot initiative to up funding.

Defeated 78%. Fuckin' morons, they deserve to raise stupid kids.

Texas passes Marriage Amendment proposition 75%-25%.

In other news, KY's stock plummets.

Virginia: Democrat Tim Kaine beat Republican Jerry Kilgore by 5% (100,000 votes). The Republicans won Lt. Governor and Attorney General, although the Attorney General position is going to be a recount.

I work with a 50/50 maryland/virginia team, and they all said the polls were empty (and touchscreen was used).

Way to go Detroit. Morons.

Kwame Kilpatrick wrote:
"We had people power," Kilpatrick told supporters at a Renaissance Center ballroom. "Some of y'all just plain crazy, because you had no business standing up...we couldn't win. So some of y'all just plain crazy. And right now, the whole country that's been watching is saying you crazy like a fox."
