Anyone heard of this singer/songwriter yet?

It's fairly mellow stuff, but he's got a terrific voice. Somewhere between Nina Simone, Van Morrison, and Otis Redding.

He's still playing small venues around the country, so if you have the chance, go check him out. His album, Trouble, is out now.

He's worth checking out. I enjoyed the album and I agree with your description of a cross between Simone, Morrison, and Redding. I'd add a little Nick Drake to the description; for some reason Nick Drake was the first thing I thought of. Mellow is a good word. I'm planning on seeing the show live on February 11th here in Cleveland.

Saw him on Conan. I thought it was spectacular.. really otiginal and unique songwriting, plus he has a great voice.

In his defence, it was a shitty crowd that wouldn't shut up, in a crappy venue where only half the crowd can see the stage.

I saw him at the Fillmore earlier this year. He has an awesome voice. The crowd was completely into him. He sang "All the Wild Horses" as his final number and you could hear a pin drop. There was absolute silence in the crowd. Reminds me a lot of Stephen Stills as a songwriter but his voice is better. I do think he battles stage fright. Can't wait for his next album!

I had heard that he did that cover...sounds interesting. When did his album new come out? I wasn't aware of this.

The guy is a very good singer, but I don't think he is all there lyrically.

I've only heard 'Can I Stay,' but he sounds a lot like Damien Rice, only worse.
