I LOVE this band and LIVE for this band!! This new best of CD is awesome! State of Love & Trust is re-mixed along with Breath and Who You Are with a new lyric line "Avalanche, falling fast..." <--verse 2

Over all, Black is the highlight of the CD and Once is a great opener...

Any one else agree? Rock on all!

I like Even Flow, Black, and State of Love and Trust the best. This will be a good Christmas gift.

I listened to it once in the car, but i had to address something important to my friend who was listening with me so i guess i just assumed it was the album version, what sounded different to you about it?

I'm already bored with it. Remixes aren't so different that they alleviate the saturation of Ten songs in my head. I feel like a sucker for buying this with ZERO incentive (i.e. limited DVD, new songs, or even numbered discs).

I recommend not wasting your money. Get the setlist off of TSIS and just burn the two discs yourself off of the albums.

A big "eh, it's OK" from me too. I'll be happier when I can listen to it on vinyl.

One thing I find really interesting is the pictures. I had no idea that the words "Pearl Jam" on the cover of Ten were made out of plywood and painted white. For some insane reason I find that totally cool.

It's great. But Grievance should have been included.

Considering that this is a "studio only" release, Grievance should most definitely have NOT been included!

The tracklist is probably one one of the best greatest hits tracklistings I've ever seen from a band. The packaging is a little gimmicky and the liners are disappointing. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that they think the people who will buy this set the most will be MTV-aged, not "bought Ten when it came out/never came back" aged. I give it a solid A.

Most songs were not re-mixed, but it sounds to me like most were re-mastered. 10-12 years ago, mastering was a lot different than it is today. The levels were lower. Today, most people tend to bring the overall volume (or 'thickness' of the .wav file) up quite a bit when mastering. Most producers also compress a lot less these days. Now, I'm not saying it's that way for PJ, but it sounds to me like every song (at least pre-Riot Act) was re-mastered to some extent.

Where I can hear it most is in 'Given to Fly'. I swear I hear a guitar part I've never heard before. Others its not so noticable but I have noticed minor variations in instrumentation standing out more. That is an effect of some mastering changes. Sometimes, subtle variations in mastering can lead to other instruments being more noticable.

Yeah, back in the 'ol days Even Flow was slower and, in my opinion, better. Now, don't get me wrong, I dig the jams in the middle these days with Mike and Jeff duelling, etc... but get yourself a copy of the first week rehearsals (the Blaylock tapes) and you'll hear a slowed down / funked up version of this song.
Just my opinion, I'm not trying to convert anyone here.

I think Thumbing My Way should be on there and Breath should not.

Thumbing My Way got a good bit of airplay in the afternoon on WHFS Annapolis. Washington. BAltimore springtime 2003. But they also play Glorfied G, and Why Go alot too and they didnt make the record. There are alot of cosiderations to a GH album what makes it and what does not. HEre no stations picked up SAve You or Get RIght, but we still here Tremor Christ or Porch from time to time. I think regions have a lot to do with it.

Anyways the begining of Up sounds great! I've head so much more going on in Jeremy, especially at the end than I've ever heard before. Ed's mumbling something I more I cant make out in once, Alive sounds clear and clean, SOLAT s scary weird, Animal sound really clean too. I've noticed Off HE Goes and WHo You ARe to sound more excellent as well. I think the older songs sound alot better than the newer ones on this record. It will be a great CD to play in my bar on FRiday night.
