I haven't seen three of these movies but I'm giving my prediction...

Cinderella Man
Good Night and Good Luck
New World
Munich
Walk the Line

Doesn't look like that bad of a line up

I hope Walk the Line doesn't make it just because I don't need a new "epic musical biography" every year.

This could be quite a weak year for Oscar.

Weak my ass. I had to endure Lord of the Rings winning every catagory and Chicago winning best picture in the past few years. That list is fine by me.

Films I believe will be nominated for SOMETHING:
Broken Flowers
A History of Violence (Maybe.)
Walk The Line
Syriana (Maybe...it's a little late.)
Sin City (Something visual, maybe?)
War of the Worlds (Effects.)
Jarhead (Maybe.)
March of the Penguins (Documentary.)
Good Night, and Good Luck
Cinderella Man

Among others, obviously.

Sin City could quite possibly win for effects.

Best picture for me is Good Night, and Good Luck, but I haven't seen very many movies this year.

It probably will.

It's also....the....only movie I've seen yet this year.

Walk the Line will at least get nominated, just because of the subject. Syriana looks really good from the previews. Rent might get a nod too.

Revenge of the Sith

The scenes with Anakin and Padme are entirely CGI, believe it or not!

Am I the only one who could care less about the Oscars or any other awards shows like it? I enjoyed "Walk the Line" but the ads saying "it's sure to win Oscars" were actually kind of a turn off for me.

Fuck the Oscars.

Revenge of the Sith

Yeah, RIGHT. Horrible, horrible CGI. It seemed like they weren't even trying. War of the Worlds and Sin City have it beat by eons.

War of the Worlds may be one of the 5 worst movies I've ever seen.

Then you have not seen a lot of movies.

To pick my top 5 this year...... I have to go wtih the Jonny Cash movie, Batman Begins, and Revenge of the Sith. I base the quality of a film on how much I enjoyed it, and those are my top three right now. May change considering I have not seen the Clooney films, and the Spielberg film. Actually put the "Weather Man" in there, that was a great flick. That Gore guy isn't half bad, the pirate movie excluded.

I liked Crash, although it came out so long ago that its likely off all voters radar screens by now.

They purposely release movies real close to the Oscar cut off date to keep it fresh in everyone's mind by the time the nominations roll in.
