I thought the BCS Bowls were 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, and 7&8. Was I just wrong?
I wanted another shot at Penn State.

Yes you were. It seems as if they try to match up teams that will bring in the most money. So basically they end up having 2 very good matchups while not caring about the other 2 games

Stupid BCS. PSU should have been paired against ND or Georgia, at least. I mean, imagine the hype a PSU-ND game would have gotten?
i thought for sure it was going to be PSU-ND.
then i realized it was the BCS...

A bit off-topic....I know the Spartans sucked this year, but it's nice to see the Wolverines playing in a shit bowl not even on New Years. If they don't crush Nebraska, I'll laugh and laugh.

Apparently the BCS thought a decrepid coach match-up would be fun.

Yea, that's probably how it should be. I feel bad for Oregon. Ranked 6th w/ their only loss to USC, yet they end up on the outside looking in.
Oregon got completely shafted. Not only did they not get a BCS bid, they're stuck in the Holiday Bowl against OK? What the hell? They at least deserve a Jan. 2 bowl. Total shit.
Anyone else think the Miami-LSU matchup could be more entertaining than most of the BCS games?

Sadly the BCS does not work that way. It works off who wins the major conference champions. All the major conferences agreed to it.
USC = PAC 10 CHAMPION - AUTOMATIC BID
TEXAS = BIG 12 CHAMPION - AUTOMATIC BID
FLORIDA ST. = ACC CHAMPION - AUTOMATIC BID
PENN ST. = BIG 10 CHAMPION - AUTOMATIC BID
WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY = BIG EAST CHAMPION - AUTOMATIC BID
GEORGIA = SEC CHAMPION - AUTOMATIC BID
OHIO ST. = ASSURED OF AN AUTOMATIC BID DUE TO FINISHING 4TH IN THE BCS COMPUTER RANKINGS
NOTRE DAME = ASSURED OF AN AUTOMATIC BID DUE TO FINISHING 6TH IN THE BCS COMPUTER RANKINGS
Oregon who finished 5th in the BCS gets screwed and also good teams team like Auburn and Miami get left out. But then it comes down to match ups. West Virgina won their conference at 10 and 1 and Florida St. won the ACC at 8 and 4, but I would have rather see say Auburn taking on Penn St or Georgia taking on Oregon but that does not happen.
It would be great if they added a 5th BCS bowl and you had:
USC vs. Texas - Rose Bowl
Georgia vs. Miami - Sugar Bowl
Penn St. vs. Auburn - Orange Bowl
ND vs. Ohio St. - Fiesta Bowl
West Virginia vs. Oregon - Added Fifth BCS Bowl
That would take everyone in the top ten in the BCS except Virginia Tech because they lost their conference and West Virginia gets the bid ranked at 11th in the BCS because they won their conference. Of course you could mess with all the match ups above except USC and Texas due to being the top two undefeated teams.
A fifth bowl would fix some unfairness in terms of leaving teams out but there will always be years where there could be that third undefeated team or maybe more. Then on the other hand you could have a ton on one loss teams like almost happened this year thus the computers pick the top two all based on several factors.
A playoff would solve everything but the NCAA says no, but hey don't we have the NCAA tournament to determine the men's and women's basketball championship? The NCAA does not want a football tournament. Most college teams are playing 12 games a year. They should cut out these stupid conference championship games, limit all college teams to 11 games, and the season would have been over the last week of November. Then they could allow all teams in the playoff one week off and the first playoffs start the second week of December. If there was a playoff only eight teams could be selected. So you select eight teams and there's four games the second week of December. Then after that weekend you're left with four teams. Those four teams play the third week of December, which leaves the to two teams. Those top two teams would meet in two weeks at a after new years bowl and the other six would meet at the other major bowls after new years.
To bad none of this ever happens. Damn BCS and NCAA....
