I searched and couldn't find a topic the same so forgive me if i missed it.

Which do you prefer to listen to, metallica or megadeth. The only metallica i like is what dave wrote but megadeth is just kicking my ass at the moment. Rust in Peace has to be one of my favourite albums atm.

So who is for you, and why?

I've listened to both sides and Metallica just owns in every aspect.

The Cliff Burton years are mindblowing, even after over 10 years of listening to the same songs. Vocals, lyrics, guitar style, and song structure are dominant over anything Megadeth ever put out. AJFA is a good album, but it's REALLY metal and doesn't have that rock and roll touch that the previous albums had. Not to mention each song was like 2 hours long.

But yeah, Metallica is one of top 5 favorite bands ever.

Metallica takes it in a walk.

I prefer neither, but I'll take Megadeth.

I'll take Megadeth and "Tornado Of Souls" over any song Metallica has ever made, including "Creeping Death" and "Seek And Destroy"

They were both great.

The best Megadeth songs are as good as the best Metallica songs. I think Megadeth had more filler than old Metallica though. There was not a bad Metallica song up until the Black album. Mustaine had a few. However, I would put Holy Wars... up against any Metallica song any day of the week.

They are both laughing stocks now.

Holy Wars is epic.

I think that I have only heard 2, maybe 3, Megadeath songs. I went through a pretty big Metallica phase during Senior year of High School, with the Black album and Justice for All being my favorites. I still listen to them every now and then, but ever since Jason left it hasn't been the same.

Metallica.

I can only guess that over hald of the people voting Metallica are saying it because they haven't listened to very much Megadeth. I'm not saying that they would vote for Megadeth if they HAD heard them, I'm just getting a feeling

I've seen Megadeth twice live recently. I didn't know them at all before going to the first gig, but they were absolutely amazing. I've seen Metallica three times to, and it's difficult to compare the bands. Metallica played huge venues, to thousands of people. Megadeth played small intimate venues to a couple hundred people at most.

Both bands rock, I'd say Megadeth is slightly heavier than Metallica.

And Justice For All destroys almost anything its put up against. The production is awesome, the drums, guitars and vocals are perfect. I do like Megadeth though. Hanger 18 is nasty and a lot of their older shit is awesome. I think I just like Hetfields voice a lot more than Mustaines. Anything after the Black album is easily forgotten though...their first 4 albums are hard to beat.

trapped under ice?
i mean, c'mon, the song is called "trapped under ice".

i'd also toss the aptly-named "the thing that should not be" into the mix. and maybe harvester of sorrow. that's right.

Not a huge fan of either anymore, but I'd go with the tallica. Much as I love Tornado of Souls.
