What means that.

It's using the chromatic scale which consists of all 12 notes in western music. It isn't in any specific key-- keys are made by taking certain notes from the chromatic scale. It can sound okay in a song with a tone center if you play it really fast.

Basically, it's a way to play really fast. It's a classic John Pertucci wanking technique.

Oh, I don't really know anything about that. I just like DT for the chicks mostly.

I've never heard it.

I didn't like it at first, but I must say, it's now my second favorite from FII, right behind LitS. The part where it breaks down is simply magical. It's "The Wasteland" part. Amazing stuff.

I don't not like him... I just don't think he should be in Dream Theater...

I think he's better than Sherinian, but he doesn't have the creative knack that Kevin Moore has. It's hard to write a better song than Space Dye Vest.

I like all of the post-FII albums (SFAM is probably my second fav DT album), but they do lack something that the early albums had. There's just something about the way Awake, I&W, etc were structured that just made them top-of-the-line albums.

I almost made this thread about Space-Dye Vest, but decided not to at the last minute.

I thought these songs were supposed to be ones most of us had heard.

I thought FII was a pretty weak CD. I loved I&W, Awake, and CoS. I thought FII was pretty bland. I did think SFAM was excellent, but they have gone way downhill since. Six Degrees was ok...though I really dislike the second disc. Haven't really gotten into the last 2 albums.

I was gonna pick a Graveland song at first, count yourselves lucky.
