Hey folks, Harry here - this makes me giggle like my robotic animatronic living chimpanzee bust sitting upon the snow fox pelt from Little Big Horn. I love the idea of Mirror Mirror KIRK kicking ass like Edmond O'Brien in the WILD BUNCH, in space. Just a delicious rumor for now - but - Patrick Stewart recently commented that he was ready to do another Trek into the Stars. Could be... could be...
WILLIAM SHATNER to return for new "STAR TREK" movie?
CanMag.com reports that Captain Kirk might be returning to the bridge of the Enterprise for the next "Star Trek" film. Not only that - he'll be joined by Patrick Stewart's Captain Picard and Scott Bakula's Johnathan Archer, of "The Next Generation" and "Enterprise", respectively.
The site claims that the idea to set the next "Trek" movie as a prequel, with the action centering on the students of the Starfleet Academy, has been trashed. Instead, they're considering doing a sequel that will be set in the "Mirror" Universe - which we've seen in both "Star Trek" and "Enterprise" before - which will make it possible for several of the 'captains' to team up. (After all, there's no rules/no continuity restrictions in the 'Mirror' universe).
"Apparently Shatner was in talks to do a guest role on Enterprise, but it didn’t work out. Why? Apparently he wanted a) more money b) would rather do Trek films. Solution? The ideas for the episode of the “Enterprise†episode he was going to do will now be incorporated into a movie. Yep, Captain kirk’s back", says the site. "It’ll be Shatner, Captain Picard and maybe Archer".
Let's just hope this new "Trek" movie is better than the last one - "Star Trek : Nemesis"!
Shan.
================================
I'd like to see another Trek movie, but this idea blows, and Rick Berman and Brannon Braga need to be shot first.

After SUPERMAN?? After LOGAN’S RUN??
Bryan Singer Wants To Make A STAR TREK!!
I am – Hercules!!
The rest of the Ain’t It Cool editors are probably busy prepping for their 24 hours of sequestation at the Alamo Drafthouse next weekend, so I’m sneaking over to the movie side to relay what “X-Menâ€-“Superman Returns†director Bryan Singer told SciFi Wire’s Patrick Lee at a Nov. 30 screening of Singer’s new SciFi miniseries “The Triangleâ€:
"We're huge Trekkies. And we've always talked about what we would do, and what would I do, if I were to make a film in that universe."
"Again, you know, it's the same thing: X-Men, Superman, Logan's Run, all these things: There are these incredible universes, really," Singer said, adding: "You kind of wish you could play in them all. I mean, I got to do a cameo in the last Star Trek film; that was a thrill. I got to be on the Enterprise when it was under attack."
As for what he would do in his version of a Star Trek movie? "[That's] a longer story," he said. "It would involve ... it would be big. It would be very big."

The Star Trek rumors change everyday. I've read the Picard and possibly Kirk would appear in a Holodeck, not a mirror universe. I hope they get the franchise back on track.

Back on STAR Track!
Anyway, I'd piss my pants over this idea except a few reasons:
1. Rick Berman is a fucking moron.
2. I've heard about 5 different story ideas in the last year for a new Trek film.
3. Fucking goddamn Rick Berman
4. Klingons
5. If I had a bar of gold pressed latinum for every time Rick Berman fucked up the franchise, I could buy the universe.
Otherwise, this is a super kick ass idea that will never see the light of day.

There really doesn't need to be another Star Trek movie for a long, long while. Nemesis was bad. Not Star Trek V levels of shit, though, so maybe there's hope after all.

I hadn't liked Nemesis when I saw it in theaters, but I bought it on DVD a month or so ago (to complete my collection) and it was much better than I remembered. It could've been a lot more, but it was good.

Elaborate.
I had to do a presentation on a book for my Native American History class. The book was "Wisdom Sits in Places"
In it, Keith Basso describes Native American use of symbolism in describing a certain place. For example, that bend in the river is called "Where snakes go hungry" because of a story about snakes and whatnot that happened in their stories/legends/myth.
I related this to the class by showing them TNG episode entitled "Darmok" from season 5 I believe that had Picard transported to an alien planet along with the captain of another ship, Darmok. Darmok's people spoke the same way to get their point across. It was only until after Picard realized this and decoded the language that they were able to fight the evil invisible electronic dinosaur that lived on said alien planet.

Well, they made Insurrection, so this idea doesn't seem so bad.
Trek will need names like Shatner and Stewart to get asses in theater seats. Plus the Mirror Universe stuff seems to be a hit with most fans.
I just want a new Star Trek movie. I really don't care if Berman and Braga are behind it, but if I had my way, Manny Coto and the Reeves-Stevenses would be in charge.
Jendresen Talks "Star Trek XI" Posted: Thursday April 13th, 2006 11:32pm Source: SyFy Portal Author: Garth Franklin
Last year, screenwriter Erik Jendresen wrote a draft for a "Star Trek" feature film tentatively titled 'The Beginning'. However, since the executive shakeup at Paramount, the project has been abandoned. Jendresen shares some of his thoughts with SyFy Portal today:
"The notion was to do a prequel to the original series and fill that void with, ostensibly, a trilogy. Three films, which all would deal with Kirk's progenitor, a man by the name of Tiberius Chase... We wanted to reveal the actual cause of that war [the Romulan/Human War], which was surprising to all involved at the time. We simply wanted to reveal the truth behind that startling incident" said Jendresen.
As for its current status, he added "Essentially, what's being said is true. This is 'dead' because it's not moving forward. It's like a shark. It has got to keep moving or it's dead".
