He says such stupid shit! "If you believe that terrorists will become peaceful, if only we leave them alone ..."
No one believes that! He rebuts ridiculous statements like that and pretends that he's "addressed his critics."

Saddam certainly was not a good guy, but at least Iraqis didn't have to worry about possibly being blown by every car that drove down the street. I have to agree with iris, though. Why not get when we had him instead of waiting until now and making Iraq a terrorist hot bed.

no, then they only had to worry that if they muttered a discouraging word that their wife/mother/sister/daughter would be raped in front of them while the rest of their family was removed from the face of the earth

Yeah, that is obviously a horrible situation, but personally, I would still prefer having at least a little control over whether or not I am going to die over a possibility I am going to fall victim of random bombings that I have no control whatsoever.

i was just thinking about this the other day. even if you are a republican and agree with bush's policies, how can you walk in there on election day and vote for someone who says things like "One of the great sources of energy for the future is liquefied natural gas. There's a lot of gas reserves around the world. Gas is -- can only be transported by ship, though, when you liquefy it, when you put it in solid form."

the part that made me laugh out loud is when he said something like...
"we listen to our critics... and saying how terrorists allow no dissent."
all i could think of was valerie plame and her husband. I guess that is the way his white house deals with criticism.

He will beat the 9/11 drum forever now. It is proven that there was no connection between 9/11 and iraq, but there are still people who think there was and think that this is a fact. I honestly think this is the way to keep that mentallity going without ever really saying anything that is not a fact.

Also, Mr. "President" bush, why are we still talking about the war and winning it. I thought we did that 2 years ago, no?
That should be his backdrop for every talking points speech he makes.

That's not his point. His point is that 9-11 was a serious terrorist attack, and that by going into Iraq we will prevent instances just like 9-11 from happening. His goal is to try and make sure people never forget it, in order to well up support for staying the course in Iraq. "Support Iraq, support total victory, support mission accomplishment, so that we don't relive another 9-11." If you can't see that connection, then...well... I don't wanna get banned so I'll shut up now.

I am willing to bet that there you do not support the Patriot Act in any way shape or form because you think it violates your personal rights. I would also be willing to bet, that you are one of those people that would sacrafice the security of this nation, to ensure that your rights would be upheld. That's neither here nor there though. What is here, is that ridiculous comment up there. The fact that you would sacrafice basic human rights that you take for granted every day and live of complete repression and subjugation, over living a free life, and possibly dying when you go to the market, speaks volumes of your own personal character. How on earth anybody would ever honestly feel that way is beyond me. Reconsider what you said, either that, or substantiate it.
Fact: You have no control over dying anyhow. Whether you die in a terrorist attack tomorrow, or get run over by a run away garbage truck walking your doggie, you are not in any way shape or form in control of your life and dying by accident.
