US Hockey Team announced today:

2006 United States Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team
GOALTENDERS (3)
Rick DiPietro
Robert Esche
John Grahame

DEFENSEMEN (7)
Chris Chelios
Derian Hatcher
Jordan Leopold
John-Michael Liles
Aaron Miller
Brian Rafalski
Mathieu Schneider

FORWARDS (13)
Jason Blake
Erik Cole
Craig Conroy
Chris Drury
Brian Gionta
Scott Gomez
Bill Guerin
Mike Knuble
Mike Modano
Mark Parrish
Brian Rolston
Keith Tkachuk
Doug Weight

Shitty team, probably won't medal. Goaltending is easily the weakest link, but its still good to see two Stars on there.

Anybody been paying attention to the Winter Olympics stuff? I always enjoy watching the skiing... always major crash potential.

The ancient pair on the defense could be a liability.

As usual, it's Canada's to lose.

If Canada doesn't win with the team that they could put together, it's a fucking shame. When is that announced, btw?

And regarding Team USA, Defense is their weakest link. The goaltending is rather good. Forwards..eh...not too impressive either.

Rather good? How does 20th, 30th and 35th in the NHL in GAA sound? How about the fact that they're all ridiculously inexperienced? How about 27, 32, and 33rd in Sv%? These guys are not good enough to sniff the jocks of any other national team.

Tkachuk can't stay healthy for longer than a week at a time, I'll be suprised if he contributes much, especially with the international style of play.

Where did you come up with this concept? In your ass? I think that's where it came from.

Seriously... the goaltending is TERRIBLE compared to what any of the other teams can put together.

Canada's team will be announced tomorrow at 5PM EST. tsn.ca will be covering the announcement live. If you haven't been following, Yzerman and Mario have withdrawn their names from consideration because they don't feel that they deserve to take a roster spot from the young guns.

I think Yzerman also wants the break to rest. This could very likely be his last year and I'm sure he wants to give his body the chance to be as healthy as possible come playoff time.

Too bad Ryan Miller is hurt. He'd have easily made it otherwise.

Roenick is such a dick. If he didn't participate in the last two World Cups then he shouldn't expect the US to come knocking on his door to play on the Olympic team. That crybaby needs to shut the fuck up.

I could probably google this, but I won't:

Is Hasek playing for the Czechs this year?
