The news said they had no more useful information, were not deamed a threat, and were not eligible to have charges brought against them.

YAY FOR LEGAL LOOPHOLES!

You should be happy about this. Look at how long these people have been heald without charge. Guess the prisoners need be only from Gitmo to bitch about things like that.

Do you really need to ask that?

We are in Iraq to secure the 2nd largest oil reserve. We took it from a madman that wasn't going to attack us, but said he might someday. He had changed from dollars to Euro's in his oil dealings, which we also didn't care for. He had been a long ally of us up until Gulf War I. We knew the country was defenseless which made it perfect to invade. It's in the middle of the Eurasian Triangle. Which is also great strategically cause we can attack Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran (not likely), and keep tabs on Afghanistan. All with our many permanent bases being built, right along the oil pipelines. What was the first thing we secured in Iraq? The oil.

It's running out, we consume more then anyone else. Our way of life is going to drastically change, but with Iraqi oil we can continue this spend spend spend buy buy buy mentality a lil bit longer. Remember our way of life is not negotiable says this Administration. And as Cheney stated this is a war that will never end.

I'm not happy about these criminals being released. I'm also not among those complaining about the terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay either. I believe they should be behind bars as well if they are indeed terrorists and criminals. I'm not sure where I mentioned anything to mislead you on that. -Longstreet

Okay...

*bites toungue*

It was wrong of me to assume what you thought about Gitmo being held. I shouldn't have lumped you in with the majority of the board on this issue, just because many of your ideologies follow those of others on this board.

How do you know they were criminals? From what I understand is that these people were released after extensive investigations. It would seem to me that there simply isn't enough evidence to convict these people of any crime. I'm sure most of them got off the same way a lot of the SS got off. "My boss told me to do it."

I don't necessarily agree with it either. My jaw, along with everyone else in the chow hall at the time, dropped. Hit the freakin' floor when we found out about this.

It was never about that. The Taliban was never going to attack us either.

Oh, is this what you are saying now instead of: "He subverted the UN Oil for Food program and extorted billions and billions of dollars to European oil tycoons, and funneled millions to UN officials to keep it covered up. He also accepted the help of European nations to build new presidential bunkers, and aid in the redevelopment of his military."

What? That's not what the UN said when they predicted 50,000 casualties in just the war effort alone. That's not what every liberal in the country predicted in pre-war run up. That's not what my commanders told me. They were predicting 40% casualty rates! Yeah. You're right on the ball there.

This makes no sense. No sense at all. Of course, it's just so we can attack other nations. It has nothing to do with simply putting a DEMOCRATIC NATION in the Eurasian triangle. It's just to attack. Why the fuck would we attack Saudi Arabia? No need to attack Iran or Syria at this point. Keeping tabs on Syria and Iran? Perhaps. Why keep tabs on Stan' from Iraq when we are already in Afghanistan?

Do you have any idea how many miles of pipeline exist in Iraq? Far more miles than there are miles of border. The military operations in Iraq have been consolidated, and are in the process of consolidating into four "permenant" bases. Only two of which, will remain open after we downsize our troop numbers. Oh, and I would say that protecting Iraq's major source of income is a viable venture.

Iraq belongs to OPEC. We deal with OPEC not Iraq. We get nothing on the down low from Iraq. Get with the times and stop believing this conspiritorial garbage.

Since when did that ever matter?
