I'm listening to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. for the first time, and Deep Inside is blowing my mind. This is a really good record. It is surprising me since all of the Incubus fans I've known over the years were total douchebags and have discouraged me from listening to their music.
I also like their other stuff, but this earlier stuff, i.e. this and Fungus Amongus, are very, very good.

when i moved in with my friend andrew junior year of college, he played a lot of incubus and i always was like man, they're not that good.
he burned me science and i was sort of taken back. their new stuff doesn't sound like science at all.

I'm not sure if they changed bassists, but their guy on the old albums would just rip the shit out of songs. Most of their music was based about bongos, bass and turntables in their early days. That's changed a lot, although they're still pretty damn musically talented, something I think that gets glazed over.

i thought the last album wasn't very good, and i didn't like 'make yourself', but i think they're pretty talented.

I just recently heard the bonus stuff with Stellar, Pardon Me and Make Yourself acoustic and the strings version of Drive, and it's something else.
stellar and pardon me are awesome. drive makes me so sick though.

Drive is an alright song, but with the string section of an orchestra behind it it's frackin awesome.
i actually don't like how he sings it, not the music. i like when boyd gets all riled up, minus megalomaniac.

Are you talking about Live at Red Rocks? If so, yes, it's very good.
These guys are really good and very underrated. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't think they've found their audience yet, as dumb as that sounds. Most of the people I know who would like their music don't give them a chance or are biased against them. They're really good though, as evidenced by the changes and growth they show between each release. There's a lot of territory covered between SCIENCE and ACLOTM.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E through A Crow Left of the Murder are all excellent. They seem to keep topping themselves each time. They also really know how to reinvent themselves and try different things each time. I compare them to Pearl Jam in the fact that each record has a different feel to it.

With "Morning View" they were coming very close to teenage girl band territory
i used to like incubus, but i ditched them after morning view came out because it seemed that they were compromising their music by playing to that kind of audience (though i was a teenage girl at the time). i consequently lost all interest in them, even in their older stuff. they seemed to lose their way artistically after science. it was really the video for are you in? that put the nail in the coffin for me with this band.

Deep Inside is definitely my favorite off that record.
Also, if you can see them live don't pass it up because they put on quite a kick ass show.

i don't think that they were playing to that kind of audience at all. if you think that they were then just look at the completely different direction they took when it came to A Crow Left of the Murder. It just shows that they weren't afraid to take a different direction, a political direction, and potentially alienate some of their fans. Granted there were probably other times during their career that they could have done this (just look at your case) but it just seems like they do whatever they feel like doing. When they do this they seem to make really great music. At least in my opinion.
Their guitarist is pretty inventive for the type of music they play. I also like how the new bassist holds back where the older one would play two billion notes. The singer annoys me, though.
