It's sad, and I hate that it has to come to this, but I've exhausted my music supply.

Before I came I went on a massive downloading binge of new music (4000 songs), and I've now decided that it's time for new music. The last downloading binge brought me some great new finds, such as Beulah, Grandaddy, Iron and Wine, Drive by Truckers, Trail of Dead, and others. But now I feel as though I need some new music.

I've tried some of the bands that have been talked about a lot on the board as of late: Porcupine Tree, Death From Above 1979, Explosions in the Sky...and that kinda stuff...it's just not jiven.

So if anybody could lead me in a original rockin' direction, I'd be very much appreciative. I'm thinking a Sparklehorse, Grandaddy, Neutral Milk Hotel, Swearing at Motorists kind of direction. Rockin', but different, and not too fruity.

What should I check out?

Powderfinger
You Am I
Something For Kate
John Butler Trio
Rocket Science
My Morning Jacket
Great Lake Swimmers
Sleater-Kinney
TV on the Radio
Black Mountain
Hater
The Frames
Magnolia Electric Co.
Eagles of Death Metal
The National
The Black Keys
Fruit Bats
Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy
Band of Horses
Unwound
Cat Power
Ryan Adams
Spoon
Jose Gonzalez

There's a good chance you've heard stuff from a handful of those bands but if you haven't then you definitely should.

I think the stuff zeb suggested is good, at least what I'm familiar with, Spoon, Ryan Adams, The Black Keys, Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy, ect.
I'll add:
Bright Eyes, I love I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, folksy, earnest vocals
Franz Ferdinand, rock/britpop, I think it's a pretty easy listen. Driving beat and guitars.
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, their first two albums, think Sonic Youth/ The Jesus and Mary Chain, Howl is a bit different, blues gospel in the vein of the White Strips
Wolf Parade, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire also good. Also Wilco, I love Wilco.
This all a have for now, you may be familiar with some of them all ready. I hope it helps.

Not an Explosions fan? Too bad man, but to each his own.

The Fiery Furnaces
The Mountain Goats
Andrew Bird
The Decemberists
Belle and Sebastian
Built to Spill
Eagles of Death Metal
Minus The Bear
Pavement
Sleater Kinney
Sufjan Stevens

Those should all fit what you're looking for. If you want any album suggestions just let me know.

Good recommendations, particularly Wilco and BRMC.

Sorta in that vein:

Clem Snide ("End of love")
Go to Blazes (Any time ... Anywhere") --- (the record is from 1994, but very, very good and rocking)
