Personally, this has got to be my favorite of the post FNM Mike Patton projects. The first album was mixed for me. I loved the first half and got bored by the second half, but Mit Gas is just awesome. I've heard they're getting around to recording album #3, let's hope that's true.

Tomahawk is great, and I agree, it is the best Patton incarnation since FNM. I saw them open up for Tool a few years ago and they were excellent.

i enjoy them about the same, but mit gas has a lot more variety and a different, more assured feel to it.

I don't remember much about their debut other than God Hates A Coward is pretty tasty. I'll have to dig it up and give it an ear.

Tomahawk is awesome, I have both albums. Definitely my favourite post-FNM Patton group as well, though Mr. Bungle's 'California' was a killer album.

Amazing band. I only have Mit Gas so I need to get their first album. And I can't really say if this is my favorite Mike Patton encarnation after FNM because it's pretty much impossible to keep track of everything that man has been involved. :P

In my opinion, most of Mit Gas is a lot like "God Hates a Coward" and the better stuff off of the first one. It's more polished and direct but still pretty out there, as Patton's projects usually are.

California was great, and I still have a few more Bungle records I need to check out.

OK, I'm sold.

I remember their debut being quite an eye opener when I heard it for the first time. :D

True, Bungle is awesome, but i don't consider them a post-FNM group (even though California was released after the band broke up) since they've been together since the mid-80s. Otherwise I would actually put Bungle records on a higher pedistal than Tomahawk.

Very true, I guess I just meant "Post-FNM albums" since there's a lot of one-off albums as well that I wouldn't consider Patton groups (Lovage, General Patton vs. The X-Ecutioners, Dillinger Escape Plan, Patton & Kaada). It's hard to keep up with him, anyhow.

Yeah tell me about it. That guy is all over the place. I have a friend who collects everything the guy puts out, and most of it he admits is pretty bad. I almost bought Lovage the other day, but thought better of it since i haven't heard a note from it. Is it any good?

It's not too bad. I like the Automator, too, so I find it reasonably satisfying.

lovage is worth picking up, they do an amazing cover of berlin's sex (i'm a). for all the albums that patton has done recently the only one's i've liked since 2000 have been tomahawk and lovage (the director's cut is alright but nothing special). the other stuff just isn't interesting to me.

The one that Fantomas did after Director's Cut would test anyone's patience. At least it had cool album artwork.

Soooo..anyone know a good website that keeps up with news on the numerous Patton projects, or even just lyrics for Tomahawk? I searched around and found a couple of places but there's got to be something better out there than what I'm finding.

Your best bet for Patton news would probably be http://www.ipecac.com/.

Eh, it's pretty lacking, I checked it last week. I guess it's too much for any fan sites to really keep up with. Who can blame them, but that's why it would be a really great resource if it existed.
