I'd like to hear others' opinions. A few days in, DLR is really, REALLY bad. And I'd be willing to give him a chance because I know he's not Howard. But his show is just so terribly boring. Then the rest of lineup they have is just terrible. The afternoon idiots were bad, the Radio Chick is uninteresting. I do like Booker's show, but they moved it to evenings, so I don't listen. Very sad that NYC has only one all-rock station now. Maybe I will look into satellite....

I listen to Imus in the morning, cds or mp3s during the day, and cds or mike and the mad dog driving home. havent listened to "rock radio" since 1998 or something. they dont exsist anymore in the CT area

I hate Imus... You should give Mike and Mike a chance on ESPN radio.
They're decent.
Regarding K-Rock, it's pretty sad. I actually removed it from my presets on my car stereo the other day. There really aren't that many good stations any more...unless you want to listen to the classic rock stations and hear them play "More Than a Feeling" 10 times a day.

I like Imus, been listening to him since high school. Hes gotten way too political and boring but theres nothing else so...as far as Mike and Mike, I watch some of it when I wake up on ESPN News but in my area I cant get ESPN 1050, it pisses me off the most when the knicks are on and Im driving and cant get the score.

I've heard that 1050 doesn't have a strong signal around the tri-state area. What a joke. You would think that in the year 2006 and with a company as big as ESPN/Disney, this wouldn't be an issue. After Mike and Mike, there's not much else on 1050. Stephen A. Smith and Brandon Tierney are suprisingly pretty decent (Smith's Knicks rants are funny)....Michael Kaye is just awful.

DLR sucks ball juice. He's so bad, it's unbearable.
Mike and mike aren't bad in the morning, I only get Wfan at work, so I listen to Imus, then Beningo, who probably my favorite, he is so nuts, it makes my day go faster. I also do Mike & the mad dog.
On free FM, besides booker, I don't know how this is going to be better for the station, DLR is god awful, Penn just sucks, and the afternoon chick is just well, boring. This free FM wil last I say like 2 months. Roth won't be on in 2 weeks. I am glad I have XM, it will be on alot from now on.

What NY station will give away Pearl Jam tix, etc on the next go round? I will miss K-Rock mainly because I used to win almost every fucking call-in contest they ran. I gave up on their music a long time ago.
Now I find myself listening to WFUV 90.7 a lot. Good eclectic folk and rock. Also 107.1 The Peak out of white plains. Can't get it in Manhattan but in the Bronx and Northern Jersey. They play their fair share of PJ and other decent "world class rock". They are on the web too.

down in baltimore we have a station thats throwing around the line 'Free FM' as well. it used to be 99.1 whfs (where the hfstival came from). whats all this 'free' talk? to me its just the same as it ever was... really crummy 'rock' music interspersed with the occasional good song or two.

It's their challenge to Howard Stern.

I go to fordham and listen to FUV a lot, but I admit it is spotty. It can be great or horrendous depending on whos on the air at a given time.

Although he is a huge addition to Satelitte radio, he doesnt define satelitte radio...
its called "FREE" fm because its radio you dont have to pay for in dollars- although you do get to listen to 20 minutes of commercials every hour.

Right, which is a direct challenge to satellite radio, and its leap in subscribers in the last year....due to Howard Stern. I'd say he's pretty much the poster boy for satellite right now, wouldn't you?

Howard moving is a great thing for satelitte radio- but it isn't depending on him in general (well, sirius is).
