This has probably the most well-made teaser I've seen in a long time. My interest is piqued, and I'm not even much of a Shyamalan fan. Anyone know anything about this flick?

Mermaid.

The setting is perfect, the music, the lighting, it all really creates this aura of mystery and suspence, like you know something serious is about to happen

i don't necessarily think that having a mermaid show up in a guy's pool is that cool of an idea, but i am intrigued just to see where they would take the idea over the course of a full movie because right now i have no idea what they could possibly do with it.

This guy annoys the hell outta me.

I think it sucks. The whole teaser builds toward the reveal of Shyamalan's name; what's shown of the actual movie seems to be background filler until we get to that arrogant asses' name.

Yup. Although after The Village, you'd think a studio would want to hide his name.

I am always entertained with his movies, eventhough he annoys the shit out of me. The Village was shit though. Unbreakable is awesome. Hopefully he can make a movie without a contrived twist ending.

The problem with The Village was the editing and scene order. Had one or two scenes been moved to different parts of the movie, I think I'd like it just as much as I like all of Night's other movies (of which I like them all).

Yeah some editing could have helped it a lot. They let you know way to early on that SPOILERS:














The monsters are not real, which removes all the tension from the final act of the movie. And the actual ending was just beyond lame. The first half of the film was great.

I'll see the movie, but I'm getting a little tired of him using "trick" endings. Hopefully he departs from that this time around.

I worked with someone this past summer who actually worked on the movie and they said it's going to be a lot different than anything he's done up to this point. So maybe...

That means, to me, that this movie will suck.

But, what I mean is, I've loved all of Shyamalan's movies (I love the version of The Village that I have in my mind, with my editing), and they all seem to fit within the same "mystery thriller" genre. When someone says that Lady in the Water is going to be "different than anything he's done," that says to me that the movie won't be in that same genre--that he might be going for some kind of lame supernatural romantic drama. That's not what I want to see in a Shyamalan movie.

That's fair enough. The person who worked on the movie didn't tell me exactly how it would be different, and I didn't ask because I'd rather find out when I see it.

But I do think that Shyamalan should branch out into other genres. He's becoming too predictable, and I think he's talented enough to tackle other genres successfully. I love "Signs" and consider it a drama, not a thriller or a mystery.

I would support this filmmaker because he is one of the few original movie directors out there. Sure, The Village sucked, but I like his 3 before that. Looks good
