I need help with a mix that I am going to give to a girl I have loved since the day I met her 14 years ago, but after this week I will never see her again. We just didn't work out together, but stayed friends & we are both married now & I am moving thousands of miles away & want to give her this cd to remember me by.
any song suggestion?
I have a few...

Gone For Good - Morphine
Black - Pearl Jam
Landlocked blues - Bright Eyes

She may never speak to you again either if you go ahead and put Bright Eyes on there.

my suggestion:

Wilco- Jesus, etc.

Put songs on there you (both) love,
put songs on there with memories you share together
I can't help you with that, but if there's one song I'd like to suggest:

Bruce Springsteen - Bobby Jean

Sorry to hear about your situation. Good luck with the CD and the move.

Wait, you are both married and you are longing for this girl? Is that healthy?

Anyway:

The Beatles - The Long and Winding Road
Bob Dylan - The Times They Are 'A Changin'

edit.

Actually that is a great choice. A song about the inevitability of change.

Oh man, if you're going to do a Wilco song, how can you not do "Say You Miss Me?"

Because while the latter is a more app, and therefore effective message-sender, Jesus is more immediate and more likely to touch a nerve. You have to be careful to find balance between message and motivation, even if they appear congruent, grasshopper.

Just a few suggestions. I'm sorry to hear about your situation, it is pretty sad. But I am sure you have thought it all out well.

I especially would consider the first one:

Explosions in the Sky - Your Hand In Mine
My Bloody Valentine - To Here Knows When
Smashing Pumpkins - Thru The Eyes of Ruby
Bedhead - Powder
Radiohead - Let Down

The way I see it, if you have known this woman for 14 years, do you really need to use words to express your goodbye on a mix CD? I mean there is nothing wrong with using "goodbye" or "I will miss you" songs, but I think it would mean more to both of you if you could derive the emotion in the mix from both you and her reaction to the music, not just the words the singer is singing. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, I tried.
