you can peel it off pretty easy. Not that it was my intension to do so, but I had this sticker on the cd (I ^*&#) HATE stickers on cd's!!) and I peeled that one off when some silver-stuff came along. It isn't very noticeable, but it does suck

something I learned from Queer Eye, and one of my old friends's tricks too
the best way to open a CD:
1. run the bottom/side of the jewel case along table edge or similar angled surface (the friction splits it no problem)
2. pull the bottom hinge away ever so carefully, separating the front and back of the jewel case. this will allow you to easily peel each side away from the white tape that runs along the top.
viola. opened in 10 seconds with no residue, scratches, etc. I have broken a couple hinge tabs off doing this, though, so you've been warned
(I realize this doesn't apply to digi-paks. sorry )

I don't think that works w/ the cardboard cases, just the standard jewel cases. The cardboard will bend and dent, and the ribs on the plastic case are the secret to the friction.
