Yeah.

He had one shining moment with the Dodgers. He had a full career with the Tigers.

go state, there were 2 Tiger fans there and 50 Dodger fans. I got to talking to these two guys, and we were talking about how Gibson basically had one year as a Dodger (89-90 I think he played a combined 70 games cause of his knees), but as great a TIGER as he was, he is known best as a Dodger for that one at bat.

But these two guys told me stories about how Gibson wasnt that popular with a lot of tiger fans, that a lot of them think his career is based on two home runs (88 and 84). Is that true? I think his heart and his hustle and his desire to win at all costs was what defined him as a ballplayer.

I have an uncle that can't stand him. Has always ripped on him. The other Tiger fans I've come across love him. He was Gibby. He didn't put up Hall of Fame numbers by any means, but like you said, his heart and hustle won fans over. I heard him get loud cheers as just a bench coach in Detroit not to mention when he played, so I would disagree that he wasn't a fan favorite there.

You're right, nationally he's best known for that one HR as a Dodger. He'll still always be a Tiger. I'd wager money that if you asked him, he's a Tiger at heart as well.

hitting the most famous home run in WS history in dodger blue helped.

Gibson is a Tiger, but everything he did for the 1988 Dodgers makes him a true Dodger as well.

Like Messier with the Oilers/Rangers
