Am I the only one that can't stand watching an Illinois home game on TV? It's dark in there, and the fans that have courtside seats and stand up, well they block a good five feet of the court for the TV viewer.
Same goes for Knicks home games...MSG is so fucking dark you can't see any of the fans in the crowd. It's really weird....like you're watching a game from the 1960's or something.

I've seen what you're talking about; I agree with you w/MSG.
On a tangent, they should bulldoze MSG and build a new arena.

while I agree that watching a Knicks game on tv it seems like the crowd is in complete darkness, rest assured when the team is going good and the house is full, there is NOTHING in sports as electric as sitting in that crowd at MSG.

and what do you have to compare it to?
I'm sure there are some Duke fans, Flyers fans, Red-Sox fans, Chiefs fans, Wolverine fans, Philly college basketball fans, and many many more who disagree with you.

Pistons Fans also. Wolverine fans? only if we're talking hockey.
In regards to the original thread topic... How can Proffessional teams sign deals with stations that DONT offer freaking HD? Its nearly impossible to watch Basketball on FSN or the Local Pistons affliate.

But then Spike Lee would have to commit suicide.

wasn't even aware of that.....every time I've ever seen a big game on TV the place was nuts, several games vs PSU, ND and OSU are what I based that on.
Oh well, crucify me for one bad example.

MSG is dark and annoying, it does have great acoustics though. It's always my favorite place to see a concert. It's tough to compare crowds from other stadiums but i definitely agree with the Michigan fan theory. I went to a game at the Big House and although there was 102,000 people there it nearly half as loud or crazy as I thought it would be. It was basically on par with the games I saw at MSU. All i can verify for New York arenas is that the Garden is crazy there during a big rangers game

It does look kind of odd when you're watching on TV....but when you're there it doesn't really matter, and several players over the years have said they like that the crowd is kept "dark" while the court is lit up.
