Since all you Bears fans seem to still love the man, I think it's very important that we hear what he had to say as Chicago's season comes to a close.

Ditka today on Mike and Mike in the Morning:

I think the one thing you have to be able to do in life is back up what you talk about. Ya know, I don't believe in talk. I don't believe in saying anything. If you're better than the other guy, you'll beat them. Just go out and play. You can't talk your way into a win.

I think the disappointing thing about this Bear football team is that we had a lot of people comparing them to the '85 Bears defense. You gotta be kidding me. I think you ought to put that to rest forever. Put it to rest.... forever.

Amen, Mike.......... Amen.

I dont think any respectable bears fan compared this years defense to the '85 bears. Yes, this years defense was very good, but no where near as dominating as that group was.

I agree. The media kept hyping this year's D and comparing it to '85. Anyone with a smidgeon of football knowledge knew they weren't even close.

the bears got completely out coached in this game. the defense didn't play so well, but the coaching was terrible.

No shit. Can they revoke a coach of the year award? That was just awful.

terrible. i think he deserved the award, but his whole staff was outcoached. still, coughlin and the giants were outcoached completely too. i think it speaks volumes of how far john fox has come.

I think Fox did a great job, but Lovie Smith just made moronic decisions. It wasn't even so much being outcoached as he just seemed brain dead on the sidelines.

I also believe he deserved the award for the regular season. Yanking Orton and tossing in Grossman in that one game clinched it for me. Ballsy call that was.

well, i do think that thinking you can single cover smith with whatever CB they had was the worst decision any coach has made all year.

I agree. The media kept hyping this year's D and comparing it to '85. Anyone with a smidgeon of football knowledge knew they weren't even close.

All the more fitting that the comparisons came from the media.

Steve Smith.

that's why it's important to form your own opinions. I'm not singling you out - but I see so many people here blasting players or teams for not living up to what the media (namely the ESPN hype machine) makes them out to be, and it gets kind of old.
