Just watching some DVDs (thanks delanoche and youkan) and discussing. So does Eddie know Huddie Ledbetter? My friend told me off Huddie during YL and thought there was a connection. Google gave me this http://leadbelly.lanl.gov/leadbelly.html
If nothing else he's a character and I enjoyed the read but..
I just look forward to my next live version of YL.

He was born in 1885 so I doubt Ed knows him. You must be thinking of Leatherman, who is very close to Ed I hear.

Leadbelly... mike is a big fan I guess.... Nirvana recorded a bunch of his songs too. Im not sure, but i think that song "where did u sleep last night" on the nirvana unplugged is a ledbetter song.

His nickname was Leadbelly.

I believe Yellow Ledbetter is named Yellow Ledbetter because the guitar-line is a tribute from Mike to Huddie Ledbetter. And the Lyrics are about Yellow Letters.

IF you turn the volume WAY up during Nirvana's unplugged, you can hear Kurt talking about Leadbelly before that song.... how Leadbellys family offered him one of his guitars... for some HUGE amount.... and Kurt even tried getting the guy from his record label to step in with cash... or something to that effect... and their are 4 Leadbelly covers on Nirvana's box set. "Where Did You Sleep" (the Leadbelly song is actually called In the Pines) "Hung Him on a Cross" "Grey Goose" and "Aint it a Shame"

Also, I believe the song "Death Letter" by the White Stripes was a Leadbelly song (for those interested....) was either Leadbelly or Son House

think im going to have to take some Leadbelly to work tonight or tomorrow with some Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, and Ray Charles maybe

My Dad has a bunch of Leadbelly CDs. I used to listen to them all the time. They are great.

I remember being so excited when I found out Nirvana did Where Did You Sleep last Night on unplugged.
