this guy is so fucking good.
i just heard a song of his on 'orange county' and it reminded me i haven't listened to him in a little while.
but he's damn good. i think musicforthemorningafter is stronger front to back, but 'crystal village' from the second album may be better than any song on the first album.

Probably my favorite artist after PJ. Ive seen him at least 5 times. His first album is stronger than the 2nd, but the 2nd has some better songs on there. New album is supposed to come out this year.

I actually like Day I Forgot more than musicforthemorningafter. I can't wait until his new album comes out this year. I heard a new song that he had posted on his MySpace and it was all right, nothing special. I think he took the song down though.

I think he is a pretty average singer songwriter that is well backed by a big label. Most likely a response to cash in on the appeal of Ryan Adams/David Gray at the time he "broke" through.
Saw him live twice opening for other bands and bar a couple of songs was really forgetable.

I really like Pete Yorn and don't understand why he isn't more popular than he is. His version of I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend is surprisingly very, very good (surprising only because, hey...it's The Ramones).
It took me a little longer to get into the second album than it did the first, but I enjoy them both. Long Way Down is probably my favorite track.

Hes varied on the different times Ive seen him. The best was either the first time I saw him during one of his first tours for MFTMA or a private free radio show with only about 30-40 people at Chicago Recording Company. The private show my girlfriend won through a radio call in contest. He played pretty much all requests, including mine; For Nancy(its my favorite song of his and no one had requested it). He was willing to play longer but the radio station, Q101, pretty much stopped him. Afterwards we talked to him and got a special pass for the next night's regular concert. The last time I saw PY was the worst. It was a free show this past fall for the Ford Fusion in Chicago, http://www.fusionflashconcerts.com/index.htm He has a different backing band now and they arent as good. Still no exact news or date on the new record. He does have 2 different myspace pages,

He has 2 live albums; Live From New Jersey and Live at the Roxy, which was an extra disc for MFTMA when it was first released. Live at the Roxy is pretty damn good, pretty loud and full of energy. I was lucky enough to pick it up at a local record shop. I think its pretty hard to get now and Im sure I could find a way to get someone a copy.

Have you heard Undercover on the Spiderman soundtrack?

No, I haven't. I didn't even know he was on the soundtrack. I'll download that this afternoon.
Conversely, have you ever heard his cover of Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark? He brings a new angle and dynamic to the song that I never felt possible. I never really appreciated the song until I heard his version.

Any kind soul willing to post songs from him in our G-mail account?
I would love to hear the Ramones cover

Yes I have. I think I may have heard it at a concert and have it on the Live At Roxy album. You should also check out the bonus disc of MFTMA. It was rereleased/reissued with extra cover songs:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006 ... c&v=glance Theres a few other songs on various compilations, Im gonna dig em out for you
Ok here some other songs:
Seventeen-The Red Room Volume 1(Target CD)
Hunter Green-Trampoline Records Greatest Hits Vol. 1
I Feel Good Again(Junior Kimbrough Cover)-Trampoline Records Greatest Hits Vol. 2
Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)-Just Like Heaven (Music from the Motion Picture)
Ever Fallen In Love-Shrek 2 (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture)
Red Right Hand-(From the Motion Picture "Hellboy")
Im sure there are others but iTunes and CBBD are only showing me these. I like 17 a lot. I Feel Good Again is great live. The last 3 are somewhat new and I havent really heard them, but my semi-girlfriend gave me an iTunes giftcard for my birthday yesterday so I think l'll download them. I'll try to get you guys a compilation of rare/soundtrack songs and the Live At The Roxy disc.

I've heard Ever Fallen in Love, and it's a decent version but nowhere as good as The Buzzcocks version IMO. I definitely have to check out those others.
Oh, and one notable absence on your list is his cover of Do They Know it's Christmas. Solid.
