To fellow RM participants,
I have been feeling that I really need to say something and give something to the boys this year. I think they put a lot on the line this year in particular working with the Vote for Change tour, Bridge School Benefit, and other organizations and charities. I definitely want to encourage them and thank them for being such an active and vocal band. I, personally, want to tell them where they've effected me and what I will pledge to do still. In any case, I was wondering if others were planning to do the same and also if we could put it all together and maybe send it in an organized "lump," so to speak.
Anyone interested?
God bless,
Jared
P.S. This can be a personal or a community thing, but I'm just tossing it out there to the community.

I had an idea a while ago for a "gift" for the band but something more along the lines of how they give gifts. I was thinking it would be great if we could donate money to a charity on behalf of our little board and maybe send something to the Ten Club expressing that we were inspired by the band to do so. I still think it's a good idea, but I'm not quite sure how we would go about it, so perhaps it's not feasable.

i remember PJmom (and Seatown girl) putting together contributions from us RMers into a pj scrap book, that was given to the band last christmas (or the christmas before that..not quite sure , time goes fast).
Anyhow, that was an truly awesome idea that actually got materialized. i just wanted to point that it happens sometimes

Yes - but I don't think we should send it until Easter. I'm down with the Scrapbook thing, I did one for an actor once, it was fun and he really loved it.

i would love to donate to a charity that they like, if it could be done kinda like when some of us donated some money to the board to help it out, we were able to use paypal. but if we decide to do a charity we could always list some of the bands favs and then have a poll as to which one we choose.
but what ever gets decided if anyhting i would love to contribute one way or another.

i don't mind this idea. my problem comes in when i think about the fact that charity donations would be made to 'impress' pearl jam. I know it would be done in the style of a gift to them, but i think charity giving should be done personally and not necessarily publically to please others. Gifts are to be given to the band (scrapbooks would be awesome).
*Disclaimer: this is my position and opinion... it is given without an intent to call into question your intent or charitable nature. This isn't saying that you shouldn't give to a charity as a gift to the band, only saying I won't be participating in a public charity giving activity. I do support a material gift to the band.

With the idea that the boys may like to see how much joy we as fans get from their music--How about a fan-perspective scrap book type thing???
We could each make a page--pix from the shows that feature the crowds inside/outside the shows and maybe a couple of sentences about why the pix were chosen and what show it was.
Archive quality paper is easy to get in standard sizes and one of us could then assemble it and send it along in one big package.
I'd volunteer to organize and put it together, partly because I know I have the time and partly because I would love to see everyone's pix. I would not take credit for anything except my own page. And I would not steal anyone's photo's either.
I'll keep an eye on this post and see how it develops...

genxgirl, i'd be down with that... but how about broadening the scope of the project? I don't have any pictures of pearl jam shows... just not my style. but if everybody gets a page to give to the band no matter how they see fit, i would definately be in to that.

Ahh, yes. Varied and sundry and creative and personal...sounds lovely
any sort of page that depicts the joy of fandom...pix of your CD/boot collection...personal art work...poetry...treasured memories of meeting other PJ fans...

The annual scrap book to pearl jam from the RM community. Very cool!
as a note, I belong to a book club run by a star trek star (John Billingsley for those in the know)...and we make scrap books for the stars every year...they love them...

I'm afraid there may be not enough time to have a collective gift ready in time for Christmas...
yeah, but we could use the "PJ Christmas Single Time Table"...then we would have at least until march to get it done!
And speaking as the devil's advocate...do we think that the band would truly appreciate it, or would it serve as yet another reminder of how weird it is to be famous?
hmmmm....

yeah i was kinda thinking the same thing...
i think the charitable donation thing would be better and less "ew" but that could be just in my opinion.

count me in! i've written some lyrics inspired by PJ, and i'm not ashamed to send them to you. no pictures, though, i've never seen them play...
I think if we do this we should keep it as simple as possible...I was even thinking of a website like the sorryeverybody.com site...pix of us fans holding up greetings/messages to the band.
