Dammit i had to wait until now! I took these a few days ago after a snowstorm but hadn't had the time to get them off my camera til now.

Well anyways add them to the vote or not...no biggie. I had a hard time deciding which one I liked more so here are 2:

A lot of good pictures, but if the prompt was "tactile," some just don't bring that word to mind.

this is what i would have submitted if i had noticed in time...

Image

now i'll go back and vote on the real entries....

edit: lemoncoatedafterworld captured texture the best. her use of color and light is really nice too...soft and fuzzy like the texture of the knitting.

honorable mention to littlewing: really beautiful photo, but it jsut does not capture "texture". that is more like "haunting lighting".

i like #2 better. the snow looks more sticky and you can see the twigs, adding vertical interest.

Weren't we capturing "tactile" and not "texture" or did I miss something. If we were doing texture I would have submitted something completely different.

Do we have to choose from those pics posted here? Or there are more so that we can see the photographer's style?

tac·tile Pronunciation Key (tktl, -tl)
adj.

1. Perceptible to the sense of touch; tangible.
2. Characterized by or conveying an illusion of tangibility: “Heaney must thus continue to be a poet rich in tactile language” (Helen Vendler).
2. Used for feeling: a tactile organ.
3. Of, relating to, or proceeding from the sense of touch; tactual: a tactile reflex.

You could take the definition literally, or you could push it to mean something. That's the subjectivity of art--the interpretation by the artist and the interpretation by the viewer.

My vote went to stuzzo. The picture goes beyond the immediate and literal and conveys a perception of other senses. You can feel tactile emotion and feedback from the crowd with the underexposure and harsh lights and warm tones. You can feel energy from the crowd, the stage, the lights, the people. Light and sound provide tactile feedback just as equally if not more so than touch. Good work stuzzo.

And if we're handing out honorable mentions, I wish is my pick. The bottom right's subtle positioning of something solid and definite-something you can grab if you were walking by--is serenly juxtaposed against what looks to be an early morning citiscape. You can't really touch it. But you can see it. It's a good display of contrasts in tactile by using the foreground and background as compositional elements.

i picked LCAW, and this is why:

i looked at each picture closely and imagined which one makes me thing of touching that subject or atmosphere the most.

for some reason, hers stuck out the most to me. i automatically got that feeling of soft and comfortable. i didn't get that automatic feeling for any of the other pictures.

tourdates, yours was second, and i may have liked it more were it not more...generic. a different angle may have helped you out.

i think lemonc's, mock turtles, and youare gtf's are the best.

you other guys have really cool pics, but i dont think they really fit the subject as well as the other 3.

my vote is for lemonc.

Thanks Pat, it's a shot of Budapest from the island which lies in the Danube. Taken at about midday.

I'm voting for LittleWing.

Beautifully shot, and it's easy enough to see the link from his picture to the prompt. If everybody just wanted this to be judged on the literal meaning of the prompt word, that should be announced and made a rule, but I really don't think that you can mark his work down for a different interpretation.

Kudos to Corky and Tourdatesplease as well, for some beautifully composed shots. I'm pretty sure Deanna is going to win this one, and all the pictures were brilliant, including the ones that didn't get included this round, hopefully next round will bring more.

It's tuesday afternoon, can we have the next one?

Also, I think YAGTF's picture, albeit simple, captured it the best for me.
