5.) something about a "hydrogen-based" economy, but nothing about alternative enegry systems that might actually work today.
4.) something about cutting our dependance on foreign oil
3.) socialized medicine / more drug price controls <-- I heard Boortz mention this today, you never know. Bu$h has proposed more insane ideas than that.
2.) Empty ultimatum to Iran
1.) Something about how Freedom and warrantless domestic search/seizures/spying can co-exist happily and legally. In lala-land. So don't impeach me. Or else you are an enemy of freedom.

----------

Boortz this morning wrote:

For starters ... here is what President Bush will not say .... though he should:

"My fellow Americans. For decades presidents have used this occasion to tell you that the state of the union is strong. Perhaps it's time to be a little more honest. The truth is that the state of the union, the state of this republic, is weak, and growing weaker with each passing year.

We are evolving from a nation of self-reliant individuals who once worked within a system of personal freedom and economic liberty, to a nation of whining malcontents; an ever-growing herd of reliant sheep making our daily pilgrimage to the trough of government to be fed. Things that our grandparents would have considered to be issues of personal responsibility are now generally looked upon as the responsibility of government. Freedom has taken a back seat to security, self-reliance a back seat to government dependency."

Also, regarding what Bush will say in his SOtU address; whatever it may be it will only serve to further erode any confidence that thinking individuals may have ever had in the man.

Is it possible to have negative confidence?

A couple more:

The pending nomination of Alito
Something about democracy in Iraq

What's the combined over/under on "terror", "enemy", and "security"?
I'm going to guess 14.

I heard he's going to appeal to his base by reciting "git-r-dun" 72 times during the speech.

If there could be a time in which this concept could be proven to exist, I think the next 3 years is it.

Yeah, I can't really understand why anyone would tune in to see what Goober has to say anymore.

All the shaking of my head back in forth really keeps my neck muscles loose.

All State of the Union speeches are pretty useless. They are usually full of empty promises and non-stop standing ovations.

Nothing makes my bullshit detector go berzerk more than the SOTU address. Even national convention acceptance speeches have less bullshit in them.

If congress starts clapping every 5 minutes this time, I'm shutting it off.

I may watch so I can get an update on last year's big topic: Social Security.

I may be watching a long time.

Or fighting a war with Canada over the shipping lanes and gas-fields that have opened up thanks to global warming.

How about freedom?

These speeches have been great for drinking games. Skol every time you hear an overused buzzword. Guaranteed drunkeness.
