One of the things that happened while listening to the Nirvana boxed is wondering what could or would have been. Things that I would have liked to have seen Kurt do with his life, had it not ended when it did. This can go for almost any artist that left us early, so I thought I'd start this thread where we can dream about what might have been. I'm personally going to stay somewhat realistic, based on relationships, etc. that the person shared while they were alive. For example, I wouldn't say "Kurt Cobain would have made an album with Tony Bennett" because as far as I know KC didn't know TB. Anyway, here's some of mine:
Kurt Cobain:
I would have liked to see Kurt appear on some Desert Sessions. I think that maybe if he had done more collaborating while he was alive, and taken a backseat to his pressure role in Nirvana, perhaps music would have been able to help him heal. This, in turn, would have led to Cobain's amazing contributions to Songs for the Deaf.
Jimi Hendrix:
I like to think that once he had come through the period he was in when he died, which was a lot of turmoil, both financially and personally, Hendrix would have become the ultimate rock and roll gypsy. Reluctant to start his own band after the problems he faced with the Experience and Band of Gypsys, Hendrix would spend most of the 70s, after releasing First Rays of the New Rising Sun, playing with friends like Eric Clapton, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and others. Hendrix in the 80s would have felt somewhat marginalized with the rise of the hair bands, and would be forgotten by the new mass media of music like MTV. He would spend much of this decade playing with his friend Stevie Ray Vaughan. The two's collaboration would garner extreme critical acclaim, though not really fitting into the pop music of the time. As the 90s arrived, Hendrix would again return to the forefront, much as Neil Young did as the Seattle scene broke and these young artists paid respects to their rock and roll forefathers.
That's all I got for now. I have more in my head but I've already typed a lot. Let's hear some of your's.

Dennis & Carl Wilson - Brian Wilson's band is great but nothing beats the real thing. Brian Wilson came back to The Beach Boys to write music in the mid 90's until Carl died. That would have been a helluva reunion tour.

Led Zeppelin - They would've gone on to release a bunch of very sucky albums, much in the style of ITTOD, each one worse than the last.
I wish I didn't agree.

I remember reading somewhere that Kurt wanted to break up Nirvana and start up a record label. I think Nirvana might have made 1 album after In Utero but that would have been it. Im certain he would have continued to make amazing music and helped produce some amazing albums
Bradley Nowell would still be making kick ass tunes. Probably would have a few side projects
Layne Staley....id like to say that he probably would have done something but i doubt. It pains me to say it but that guy was FUBAR...maybe we might have gotten another AIC album but that doesnt really seem likely.
John Lennon. I think he would be real annoying right now if he was alive.
Johnny Cash probably would still be working with Rick Rubin producing more American recordings, but of all the dead rock stars i gotta say in a sad way, his death was probably for the best. His wife had just died and he was tired. His musical legacy is too vast for me to even try and comprehend. i read his biography and apparently hes recorded over 3000 songs....

You must be a Republican.
I think Lennon would still be an activist for many causes, most notable against the war in Iraq. I also see him spending a lot of time with Bono, what with all his debt relief work and all. This would lead to John Lennon guest appearances on U2 albums here and there. I think the Beatles would have reunited sometime in the 80s/early 90s, at least for a tour.

Jimi Hendrix wouldn't be so revered as the absolute be all end all of guitar. He would of went through a period in the '80s that people wouldn't of respected as much or he would of did some kind of jazzy album, and people would be pissed that he didn't just keep re-hasing Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) over and over. Therefore, Eric Clapton could truly claim his throne at the top of the guitar world. I'm freakin' serious too.
As someone said it might be best that Johnny Cash passed away because of June's passing, but I miss him dearly. He would still be recording amazing music with Rick Rubin. No doubt about that.
Stevie Ray Vaughan would still be proving how great he is and continuing the growth of his legacy.

Cobain said in some interviews right befor his death that he wanted to change the style of Nirvana's music. He said he wanted to be known as a singer/songwriter and he thought he would loose a lot of fans because of the change, but he didnt mind.
As for Layne Staley, I think AIC was going to make another album and in 2002 when Layne died Jerry Cantrell took the AIC songs and made them his own and put them on his album.
Im not sure if any of this is true, but thats what Ive seen and heard.

Divorced the only woman he ever loved huh? how thoughtful of you. Of course you also think he would have been annoying so I can't imagine you have any idea what Lennon was like at all.
