this is a tough one. i'm leaning towards Whiterider at the moment.

i'm really liking youaregiventofly's entry--i live the color, the angle, and the warped pill reflections. and for me, who takes a lot of pills this is particulatrly poignant. but i don't know if it holds the theme in a more universal sense.
i also really like the big so-so's, makes you wonder about what is going to great you in the afterlife, and if if is an escalator to hell, we had better get praying. but i think i would have liked to see the photo before it was shopped, and i tend to prefer virgin photos.
i love the color in glorified version's...how in the world did you capture that light man? that in itself is a feat, but the overall compostition of the photo detreacts from the kick ass lighting. i think some cropping would make that photo dynamite.
finally, mickey's is really good with that purpley depressing lighting and the wilted flowers...makes you think of love gone lost and has a little edgar allen poe-ish thing going on. i think i would have liked to see the center of focus be on the flowers and not the stems though.
maybe next time we can put a limit on the number of entries? just a thought...

I don't see how any of them are relevant to the question/subject of the thread, but the black and white photo is a nice picture

It was tough.
It was either the Big So-So or given to fly.
GiventoFly would have had my vote if there were a pair of pills and a glass of water on the table next to the open pill container. Just sprung in my head "That'd say it all." I still think it's a great picture though.

i think the whole voting process kind of betrays what the photo prompt should be about so i'm not voting.

don't do voting. just have dan select which picture he feels is the best then that person goes. then they select who they feel is the best one and so on. of course, there is a chance for someone to go more than once but they can just state that they have already gone and the person selecting can pick someone else.
I don't mind the voting. I enoy competition. But, i do like Jim's idea. In photography class your work gets pinned up and someone has to critique your work in front of everyone. maybe in this instance the person picking the winner, as jim suggested, would also have to give their thoughts on the rest of the photos.

i think we are all here to learn from each other, and i quite like my photos being critiqued. it makes me a better photographer to know what other people see in my photos.
i would be willing to take the lead on this one and pick themes and pick a "winner" each week.
so how about this:
1) everyone who enters has to make a constructive critique of all the other entries
2) unconstructive commentary will be ignored
3) i'll pick themes (with input from you all) and pick a "winner" based on the critiques.
my only thing is that i'd like to submit too, but i obviously can't pick myself as a winner. so i'd like a solid critique of my photos, but i won't be in the running.
and then we may find that voting is the best thing to do after all.
more thoughts?
