That might be the best signing of the offseason. Hopefully, his HC ambitions will stay deferred indefinitely.

I'd say it's put up or shut up time for Harrington now. He'll get 2006. After that he's toast if he doesn't improve.

Absolutely. If Martz can't find a way to expoit the strengths of this offense (Harrington included), it's hard to see who can. Harrington's completion percentage is abominable though, and I honestly cannot see it improving as much as it needs to, no matter who is calling the offense. The guy has shown almost zero ability in making 2nd or 3rd option plays after his first read falters.

When Jeff Garcia is brought in to breathe down your neck, it's probably safe to say the writing's on the wall. :P

I can see it now. Martz is going to turn Dan Orlovski into the next warner/green/bulger.... wait and see...

one thing about Martz...while he has a great offensive mind, he tends to overlook pass protection at times and, as a result, his QB's get killed.

Unless they do something, they still have a pourous offensive line. I don't care how good the scheme is, he still needs time to throw.

This is a good hire, but thier first draft pick had better be Dbrickshaw Ferguson or some other huge, badass offensive lineman. If you're gonna go verticle you'd better protect the QB. I wonder how this sits with Kevin Jones. Boy would that be a good situation for Warrick Dunn.

this is true, although he put together a really good one in StL, they just couldnt all stay healthy at the same time.

Im looking foreward this season to seeing if Bulger is really made of glass or is his inability to play 16 games based on protection.

Probably pretty well, considering Marinelli is still a power run first coach. They'll utilize Jones more properly than Marriucci and his staff did.

By the way, how many M's are the Lions going to go through among their coaches and gm's?

Alliteration is fun. I'm interested to see this marriage. It could be very good. Yeah one can argue.. "it's still the lions" but they do have good personel if they can stay healthy and Marinelli is a no bullshit kind of guy.

Are they going to trade C Rogers?

Any word how much they're going to end up paying him? I wonder how many laid off autoworkers could be paid with his salary.

On a selfish, not caring note...good hire, Lions.

About the same amount per year as the money Ford or GM loses per pension plan for each retiree . . .

Ferguson won't be there when the lions pick. The Lions will go after a QB, then get OL help later.

I'd be highly surprised if the Lions draft a QB with their first pick. I mean, it's obviously going to be a WR.

There's no way in hell the Lions go after another QB in the first round. No way.

why?

If Cutler blows them away and they are enamored with him why wouldn't they choose him?

Most people project Cutler going to the Lions. I think it'd be a good fit. If he did go there I wouldn't be surprised to see Cutler starting before the end of the year.
